The problem with going hypersonic at terminal phase is any adjustment you may make would be countered by the time to impact being so short you may shoot over your target.

It is funny how MAGAs claim Democrats have been weak toward Putin. Yet Biden and the Democrats and some right-minded Republicans gave a lot of military aid to Ukraine to repel Putin's criminal invasion.

Both offensive and defensive weapons.

Trump announced a couple days ago he was only going to give Ukraine defensive weapons. Trump obviously does not want Ukraine to be able to take back the land Putin has stolen.

Trump's idea of ending the war (in 24 hours ) is identical to Putin's idea of ending the war. That is, to let Putin keep what he took.

Defensive weapons cannot counter Putin's onslaught in response to Trump's weakness:

Obviously you'd be constrained by physics on how sharply you could maneuver at a given speed over a given distance, but I don't think we have enough information to state that all hypersonic weapons must go below a certain speed on terminal.

SM-3 is flies at over mach 8 and it is maneuvering a hit-to-kill vehicle to strike a moving target. Zircon supposedly hits mach 8+, at that speed it is reaching its target in less than 5 minutes so I'm fairly skeptical it is going to slow down under mach 5. This first generation of hypersonics are all designed to hit fixed coordinates, there is no reason they need to reduce speed below mach 5 unless you know classified details on their turn rates and how far from the target they stop maneuvering.

Either way, do you have any real sources that hypersonic vehicles slow down that much on terminal or were you just making assumptions?

There has not been American heavy weapons in Ukraine until Putin's full scale invasion in 2022 and there is exactly ZERO indication Putin would stop the war if only America would agree to not arm Ukraine.
