You don't have to own the industry to simply stop imports from Russia, silly. As Psaki said, "they are only about 10% of imports," but she was using that as justification to keep buying from Russia, not replace it with North American sources.You might want to tell the Bidens that they own the petroleum industry then.
Most Repubs, Dems, and American citizens (according to polls) were in favor of ceasing Russian oil imports.
The Biden Admin was reluctant to agree, but finally did after seeing the bi-partisan support. The reason they wanted to keep importing from Russia while Russia slaughtered innocents was to limit the instantaneous outrageous spike in prices we are seeing.
They don't want to produce more domestically, because they want the US fossil fuel industry to die.
It's a national emergency, and Biden is failing at taking truly effective steps to solve the problem. Everything the Biden Admin does is wrong.
