I'll accept the assertion, the public option does seem doomed but the article does offer some reason for hope. Comprehensive regulation could create a workable alternative and if it were oppressive and burdensome, health insurance companies might eventually allow Congress to create a public option.

I don't know which is sadder, that the bold statement above is true, or that We, The People don't seem to care that congressional representation in this country is routinely bought and sold.
