The Cuban government has rejected a request from the U.S. Embassy in Havana to import diesel fuel to power the diplomatic mission’s generators. The Washington Post reported this, citing diplomatic sources. Cuban authorities called the request “shameless,” as Cuba blames the U.S. for the fuel embargo.

According to sources interviewed by the publication, the request involved importing two containers of fuel from the U.S. The refusal may force the embassy to order non-essential staff to leave Cuba in May or earlier.
