Progressive Proposals: The Marijuana Edition

Okay.

But the Doctors should have known better. The patients should have known better. The Pharma companies should have known better.

Lot's of people to blame for the Opioid crisis.

I do agree with the OP in that marijuana is not a solution ... I don't see where it's part of the problem ...

I blame opium ... have I mentioned just how damn good it is? ...

Well, it's addictive, and people should have shown more judgement.

On the other hand, Pot isn't addictive. It's habit forming, but it isn't addictive.

Do you speak from experience?
I speak from common sense 🤦🏼‍♂️
... and which manufacturer is providing dosages in micrograms
First of all, “manufacturers” don’t provide the doses. Physicians write the prescription for the amount and the dosage.

Second, nobody provides in micrograms. And that’s the point. It was never about the substance. It was about people (ie doctors) making the mistake of making the dosage far too high. That’s where the addiction comes from.
smallest I can find on the internet is 5 milligrams
Which is already scaled way back from what they used to issue (30mg - 40mg) routinely on the low end.
... if that's safe, why is it prescription-only? ...
Because it’s a controlled substance. Doesn’t matter what the dose is. A controlled substance is a controlled substance.

You’re clearly not knowledgeable about this subject matter, which is why you’re just making shit up as you go 🤦🏼‍♂️

So are most of what Big Phrama sells if they are taken the wrong way. The reason why we have an opioid crisis is because Big Pharma was passing out Oxycotin like it was Halloween Candy.
Except that pharmaceutical companies cannot issue medications to anyone. Only a physician can do that 🤦🏼‍♂️

I cannot call up Moderna and get a shipment of opioids to my house.

Ditch the paranoia and Have a blessed life.
Well you clearly ditched reality. But creating an alternate reality in your own mind doesn’t actually change reality. You should learn to deal in reality at some point.

It's a felony here to drink and drive, and it's a felony to toke and drive ...
Right. But it still happens. And it still needs to be enforced. Thus, the need for more law enforcement, courts, etc. Thus the greater tax burden on tax payers.

Wow, are you intentionally obtuse?

Big Pharma pushed the doctors to write these prescriptions, wining and dining them with dinners and vacations.

No one is without a sad story about opioids and the terrible grip they have had on the lives of patients, family and friends. The drug companies produced opioids and then dispatched their sales force to persuade doctors of their benefits. The truth was that opioids are highly-addictive, cited as the starting point in the downward spiral of heroin addiction and fentanyl use.

There's where you're wrong ... the addicted don't use common sense ...
Nobody said they did. We haven’t been discussing the addicted. We’ve been discussing opioids.
If you haven't felt opium's sweet embrace, then you don't know what you're talking about ...
I know you can’t be “embraced” by any substance that isn’t enough for your body to feel it. It’s not the substance. Whether alcohol or opioids or marijuana - it’s the dosage/amount.

Opioids are addictive ... that's a major advantage of prescribing marijuana instead ... and you're wrong about opioid prescriptions, the smallest amount manufactured is 5 milligrams, not micrograms ...

Using faslehoods to discredit something only discredits you ...

It's amazing that Poodle is all for a highly addictive substance being pushed by a big corporation, but not a non-addictive substance being grown by small entrepreneurs.

Urban Legend says that it was DuPont who criminalized marijuana ... because marijuana makes better ropes than nylon ...

"Hemp for Victory is a black-and-white United States government film made during World War II and released in 1942, explaining the uses of hemp, encouraging farmers to grow as much as possible. During World War II, the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 was lifted briefly to allow for hemp fiber production to create ropes for the U.S. Navy but after the war hemp reverted to its de facto illegal status."

To be fair, there was a lot of anti-marijuana propaganda before the war. Let's not forget "Reefer Madness" (1936) which they used to play at mantinees for the stoners at our local theater in the 1970's. I'm told the movie is hilarious when you are high.

When I was in the Navy, they showed us that as an anti-drug training film.

At no point did I say anything about it being manufactured or prescribed in micrograms. I merely gave a hypothetical to prove a point.

Lying about what was said to discredit someone only discredits you...

Remember the movie "LSD-25" ... within a year I was taking LSD on a regular basis ...
That explains why you can’t follow a convention and why you’ve been wrong on everything in this thread.

Well ... it was a stupid example ... micrograms of marijuana ... that's nothing at all ...
