That's only to get on the first ballot.

After neither Trump nor Cruz wins, they can put other names in contention.

Now- this only works if a lot of guys who are Cruz and Trump delegates are actually party operatives who will vote as they are obligated to on the first ballot, but can do other things on subsequent ballots.

the real problem is, Cruz and Trump are both damaged goods. Neither could beat Hillary and worse, both would damage the GOP Brand further with women and minorities.

To make this work, the GOP Has to find someone who is universally respected within and even outside the GOP. I don't know of anyone who fits that bill. Maybe General Petreaus if he hadn't had that sex scandal.

Here's the other problem with the bait and switch convention. All Trump has to do is walk over to the Libertarian Party and have his supporters flood their convention. Then the vote gets split 3 ways and Hillary still wins.

Didn't he used to be on Sesame Street?)..... apparently the Democratic "Base" is so wildly enthusiastic about the Queen of Corruption that most of them will be certifiably comatose by election day.
