The US locks up more people than any other country in the world. We lock up more than Red China. The idea that we "refuse to lock people up" is beyond ******* retarded.

I think ending the prison industrial complex and addressing the root causes WOULD have a positive effect.

But it didn't stop there. The National Rampage Association got the Chicago gun law overturned because Militia Amendment or something. And after that, the murder rate in Chicago doubled.

Except we don't let criminals go. We lock up more than any other country.

We lock up 2 million. Japan locks up 39,000. Germany locks up 78,000.

Amazingly, Germany and Japan have nowhere near our crime rates.

What they do have...

Sensible gun laws.
Comprehensive social welfare programs
They treat addiction and mental illness.
