Powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake strikes in Ring of Fire
It occurred near Tarija in the south of the country at a depth of 344 miles.

The USGS estimates there is a 34% chance of damage and fatalities.

Its website states: “Overall, the population in this region resides in structures that are resistant to earthquake shaking, though vulnerable structures exist.

“The predominant vulnerable building types are adobe block and rubble/field stone masonry construction.”

It would have been fun to see what it felt like huh?

Magnitude 6.8 earthquake strikes Bolivia; no reports of injuries
LA PAZ, Bolivia -- A powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Bolivia on Monday, but it was so deep that there were no reports of injuries or damage. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake struck at 10:40 a.m. local time (9:40 a.m. EDT; 1340 GMT) and it was centered 205 miles, or127 kilometers, southeast of Tarija, Bolivia. The epicenter was 346 miles, or 557 kilometers, below the surface.

The San Calixto Observatory in La Paz said that it is one of the most powerful quakes on record in Bolivia, but that there was no damage because it was so deep.

Fortunately, it was deep, even though one of the strongest since they started recording there in 1913.
