Heres a poem I wrote as a part of an 8-poem book I had to make:
A Word to the Soldiers
To all the men and women of the United States Armed Forces,
Every Soldier, Sailor, Airmen, and Marine.
Thank you; thank you for doing the extraordinary.
You truly are my heroes, and keep up the good work.
If you believe you do not have Americas support,
Then you are painstakingly mistaken.
You have my complete and total appreciation.
My only regret is that I am not physically alongside you.
It has to be hard; I know it must be,
My own father is currently with you.
No matter how painful it is at times,
I still retain the burning pride in my heart.
The sacrifices you have made to establish Democracy
In places unfamiliar with a life outside of fear
Are remarkable, and should be acknowledged by all
As a great feat by America and her Allies.
Dating from the bold men and their muskets,
To the automatic riflemen of today,
Your courage and righteousness to defend liberty
On every shore, putting the well-being of others
Before yourself is more than anyone can ask of you,
And enough to make the tears flow,
Tears of pride.
To every Soldier, Sailor, Airman and Marine,
You have my undying gratitude.
Thank you, boys, for doing this for us.
