So now even the pope believes that homosexuals should be able to marry. He says in a civil union which means he still doesn't advocate that homosexuals should be able to get married in a church but this endorsement is a step in the right direction.

After what priests do...

when did you Ghey Marry?

Kudos to His Holiness.

The Catholic Church has slowly been moving toward a more humane policy regarding gay people.

A few years ago, it said that celibate gay people were welcome in the Church.

Now it appears that His Holiness in supporting civil unions recognizes that celibacy is asking too much.

I think that President Trump's administration should also be commended for urging the decriminalization of gay relations in the world. In Africa & the Middle East, for example, gay people are treated cruelly in many of those countries.

How many natural kids can both partners bring into the world, when they are both women, or both men? They can make believe they are married but they can rub and rub but never achieve what God intended. This is the fallacy of the progs, to push immorality upon US so we can move away from our traditions.

This pathetic pope is a globalist for an obvious blackmailed and compromised Church. First time since 1407 there are two Popes. At the time Benedict resigned the office the church was under mass scandal with banks.

First Pope to be "elected" or chosen outside of Europe and happens to be from a region that is saturated with LIBERATION THEOLOGY.

Here is accepting a "crucifix" in the form of a hammer a sickle from communist Evo Morales.

Who, this Pope invited to the Vatican and sat with known communist sympathizer bernie sanders.

Don't worry folks, it is all a bad dream. Maybe if you close your eyes and convince yourselves of it, it will go away.

This is mindblowing. I'm gobsmacked.

If my very Catholic parents were alive, they would die...

I'm tempted to call my very Catholic cousin just to hear him melt down.

Actually he is for the creation of a separate civil union law for them, not inclusion of them in marriage law.

Read what was said, not what the article opines about.

If the religious never wanted outsiders getting married, they shouldnt have let the government get involved in their religious ceremonies.

It wasn't about being involved in the ceremony, it was about governments wanting to implement certain rules for married couples, and thus creating marriage licenses as documentation for said, in effect, contract.

Religion...it is all man-made.

So they can change the rules as they go to suit their desires.

What if salmon swam up raging rivers, leapt waterfalls, and braved hungry bears, just to get upstream and ghey off?

No salmon, no bears.

THE END.

The Pope was talking about civil law that governs all persons. Marriage under civil law does not depend on any expectation that the two being joined intend to produce children, just that any children between them are legally protected. I worked as a hostess in a rather famous restaurant when I was in college, zapping around in an evening gown, greeting customers and escorting them to their tables. I have a beautiful memory of greeting a wonderful white-haired woman with a cane. I asked "table for one," but she told me that she was waiting for her husband, and then he came in on his walker. They had been married for three days! She told me that she didn't feel a day over 50. Her husband retorted "no, honey, you don't." I don't think that anyone expected any babies from them.

The various religious groups have a right to choose for themselves whether or not to afford the privileges, rights, and responsibilities of married folks in their faith to same-sex couples in their respective religious communities, and conduct marriage ceremonies for them. Some do, and some don't. Government should not be in the business of imposing any sectarian belief on people outside of the sect.

Months into his papacy, he was famously quoted as saying: “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?”
However, Francis has repeatedly condemned same-sex marriage during his time as Pope — emphasizing the Catholic dictum of marriage remaining between a man and a woman in multiple statements.

I think he is basically encouraging priests and the laity to accept these adults and families into churches without approving or condemning homosexuality. Just view them as people.
