Here are the results of our recent polls. Of USMB members who responded,
In regards to capital punishment, 15% find find the idea morally reprehensible while 70% stated they support it. Of those in support of, half clarify that is should only be used 'fopr the worst crimes, in the strongest cases'; the other half feel it should be applied either more widely or more quickly.
30 percent believe that 3-strikes laws are needed to address repeat offenders. An equal number felt that the laws did 'address the real issues'
70 percent of those who responded believed that 'hate crime laws' either do not work or are contrary to true equality due to their discriminatory nature. Only fifteen percent sai they support such legislation.
~46 percent of repsondent believe we should not get involved in Iran's current problems and congress and the president should make no official comments. 188% feel we should not get involved, but we should voice support for the cause of the reformists. An equal number support helping out the reformists and protestors 'behind the scenes'. Nearly five percent support providing oopen militry support against the currenvt regime.
roughly 13% of you admit to being trolls and logging in for that purpose. 31% come for the comedy, twenty-five percent to hear their oppositions' arguments, and just under 13 percent come to get marching orders and 'learn our new talking points'. 75% enjoy the discussions and just under 38% are stalkers
Of the 30 percent who say they are christians, only half of them base their beliefs on the bible. No Catholics responded and 5% are Muslims. 10% adhere to Buddhism, Taoism, or a similar faith
