The owners of a private park in NYC are powerless to remove a filthy rag-tag army of "protestors". Shades of things to come under the democrat party's socialist agenda.

No... but they sure can build a sprinkler system if they want.

Have then been told by someone that they cannot force the fleabags to leave?

NYC Zoning - Zoning Tools

Privately owned public spaces were part of deals allowing certain building owners to exceed the allowable number of floors in a given building. In return for a larger amount of square footage, they were required to build, maintain and allow access to spaces, usually on ground level, for public use.

They entered these agreements willingly. What the OWS protesters are basing there prescence on is that the private compaines cannot regulate WHO uses the spaces. There are rules, but they are very vague.

Bloomberg kinda "persuaded" the owners of the park to let the trespassers continue squatting.
