Thoughts From an Independent

A friend of mine spent many hours organizing a high school class reunion last year, only to have it fall apart because of bitter infighting over politics by his former classmates.

2 of my family members won't be attending our Thanksgiving dinner, because of political disagreements.

At the grocery store I recently watched a shoving match that nearly became a fistfight, all over a provocative political bumper sticker.

A small political rally in my town last November resulted in a number of injuries when a group of folks in the streets were pelted with rocks by passing motorists.

The sad thing about this is these are not isolated events, but now things that go on all over the country with alarming frequency, and while the TV networks (on both sides) don't openly encourage this behavior, they certainly don't discourage it either!

I used to watch the evening news (both FOX and CNN) Now the TV stays off, in favor of long walks and an hour or 2 playing and studying chess before going to bed.

Politics divides us too much, I think.

.

And until America is America again, it will likely get worse.

The powers that be, like to play both sides against each other and do so, to a greater degree than ever before. What people accept as leadership, from leadership, is amazing, and the leadership we have has no apparent restraints, even on itself. I am pretty sure, division is the goal, not a byproduct.

Another of those on the right must capitulate for peace threads?

The saddest part is that one side has embraced supporting illegal aliens over US citizens, they believe boys can magically change into girls by the power of wishful thinking, assassination is a valid tool of dissent after a failed election cycle. This nation isn't divided enough if that nonsense is allowed to stand. That insanity has no place in a civilized nation, anyone that accepts is the problem, sitting on the fence is little more than tacit acceptance.

I agree and don't see much change in the near future although the political fatigue among American's seems to be more evident recently. I still watch the local news on the big 3, but I won't watch any national CBS or ABC offerings but will suffer the NBC national news for lack of anything else. I would welcome more introspection and attention by our populace to reunite our country. I think distancing the outside world from our internal problems is a good move. We are Americans---not a one-world globalist country.

Americans would do well to follow your example. Get outside, enjoy the fresh air. Do something productive, help someone. Try some karaoke. Anything except feeding into the divisiveness.

Yes, freedom is never gave, only taken away

Independents, are on the wrong side of history, Independents are on the side of those who are wrong

You're no independent

I like the International NFL games....It's a lot better for you than the Sunday morning political shows. ;)
I would not mind living on the West Coast with a three-hour difference in kick off times.

Division is the tool of Marxists who reside in the Democrat party today. It isn't 'both sides' that's nothing but a lie.

These days, it is both of the two main parties and seemingly supported by the dumbasses that simply vote R or D, out of misplace loyalty.

Like there's a lot of choices other than R or D ??? !!!

Try checking into the real world for a change, rather than your fantasy la-la-la land.

Consider relearning your history lessons ...
Go back about 250 years and note how about one third were for severing ties with England, one-third wanted to stay with and supported England, and the other third flexed about, on side then the other.
Human nature is designed to be polarized, and the world presents conditions that support such division.

Notice how many wars there have been since the dawn of history and they weren't the result of everyone thinking the same and have the same values. Those conflicts/wars weren't a reflection of "good ole days"when everybody got along.

The only path to the undivided peaceful world you desire is for everyone to think the same, act the same and conform to just one version of truth/reality.
So do you support everyone going to the Left side or the Right side ?

A case on point ....
....
When the demon inside former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaks, at least it provides clarity.

Indeed, in the wake of conservative Christian icon Charlie Kirk's assassination in Utah two weeks ago today, unhinged Democrats like Clinton have made no secret of the fact that they regard Christianity and those who profess it as their mortal enemies.

Wednesday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" with co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Clinton first laid out a classic strawman argument before declaring that white Christian men are "doing such damage" to the United States.

Of course, the former secretary of State lacks the courage to say the word "Christian" directly. But no one who listened to her repulsive comments could mistake her meaning.

"The idea that you could turn the clock back and try to recreate a world that never was," Clinton said in a clip posted to the social media platform X, "dominated by -- you know, let's say it, white men, uh -- of a certain persuasion, uh -- certain religion, uh -- certain point of view, certain ideology, is just doing such damage to what we should be aiming for."
