County passes resolution condemning refuge occupation after three hearings.


The Grant County Court passed a resolution condemning the armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge Wednesday.

The three-member county governing board unanimously approved the resolution after public discussion at three separate meeting.

The agency that licenses Oregon police officers has sent complaints about the Grant County sheriff to the state justice department for further investigation.

John Day Police Chief Richard Gray said he submitted a complaint to the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training regarding Sheriff Glenn Palmer’s involvement with members of the militia occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns

If Sheriff Palmer loses his license, he can serve out his term, but cannot again run for sheriff.
