Polish and NATO jets scrambled, Warsaw airport shut after Ukrainian reports of Russian drones over Poland

It appears Putin doesn't believe America is strong enough and/or they see Trump being blocked by U.S courts and want to strike while he is dealing with issues on tariffs etc.

It doesn't take much to see WWIII especially if he believes China has surpassed the U.S militarily. Decades of horrible Western leadership is going to lead us to have a weakened West unable to deal with REAL threats (not climate change).


Polish authorities have closed Warsaw International Airport and Polish and NATO aircraft have been scrambled as reports have surfaced of Russian drones over the country.


The Polish military’s Operational Command said in a statement that “ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest level of alert” after Russia launched massive airstrikes on Ukrainian territory.


“To ensure the security of Polish airspace, the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces has activated all necessary procedures,” the statement said, adding that the Polish military is “fully prepared for immediate response.”


A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) posted on the US Federal Aviation Administration’s website said Warsaw Chopin Airport was unavailable “due to unplanned military activity related to ensuring state security.”


Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force said on the Telegram messaging app that drones were heading west and threatening the city of Zamosc in Poland, but the statement has since been deleted, Reuters reported.


It was not immediately clear how many drones were in Poland’s airspace.


Ukrainian media reported that at least one drone was heading towards the western Polish city of Rzeszow.

We don't know the full facts yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a deliberate Russian incursion, maybe it was a warning to Nato to stop sending weapons into Ukraine that are killing Russians like the British Storm shadow missile that have penetrated deep into Russia, people seem to be under the ridiculous assumption that they can attack Russia and there will be no backlash, the Polish town of Wyryki-Wola was where those drones were heading or were seen, that is a Polish/ Nato hub for weapons going into Ukraine, so far Russia has been too soft they should have wiped that hub off the map, if it's good enough for Israel to hit not one Country but several they say helps Hamas it is for Russia, or are they supposed to work from different rules?
 
Reuters:NATO does not consider the events in Poland to be an attack on Poland. Same source said that NATO's Patriot air defense systems detected the drones but did not intervene in their flight.
Why spend a Patriot to do the job of a few dozen 30mm rounds? Cost imbalance might have been a consideration. They scrambled jets and shot them down IIRC.

Meanwhile, defense ministry of Belarus says it was them who informed Poland about the drones and it was thanks to Belarus that Poland was able to react.
