YOU don't have the right to determine if it's a lawful order. That's for a judge to determine after the fact once you hire an attorney.

For both those questions an answer of "I'm exercising my First Amendment rights" is an adequate answer. "I don't answer questions" is being stupidly confrontational. You do that and the cop is going to go out of his way to find every legal violation of the law that you are committing. And he will find dozens at least. There are so many laws that no one can obey them all, and cops usually ignore the nit-picky ones. Piss him off and he will start actually doing his job. Tint on your windows? He will pull out a light meter and cite you if your tint doesn't pass enough light and most do not. He will pull out a tape measure and see if your headlights are the right height above the roadway. He will count the number of lights you have facing forwards, most people with trucks have too many forward-facing lights, that's why off-road lights used to have those stupid yellow covers with the smiley faces on them. There are thousands of requirements in any state's vehicle codes that can be applied but are usually ignored but an annoyed cop can perfectly legally apply them to punish a smart ass like you. If you want respect from a cop, you have to show him respect, after all, in every contact, he has the power, you don't. His testimony will be believed unless there is concrete evidence he is lying and yours will be discounted unless there is concrete evidence that you are telling the truth. That's why body and dash cams are so valuable, they furnish concrete evidence of events.
