From Conservative Treehouse:
[A criminal conspiracy can be charged to avoid the statute of limitations. Conspiracy is considered a continuing offense, which means the statute of limitations does not begin until the conspiracy is withdrawn from or the underlying goal is achieved. This allows prosecutors to charge individuals even if the underlying crime has passed its statute of limitations.
For example, in a recent development, Kash Patel launched a Grand Criminal Conspiracy Probe that circumvents the statute of limitations, allowing charges to be brought against individuals involved in a conspiracy even if individual crimes would have been time-barred.
This probe includes Barack Obama, John Brennan, James Clapper, James Comey, and others who orchestrated or enabled the weaponization of government against political enemies.
And here’s where it gets really interesting: because of Jack Smith’s politicized raid on Mar-a-Lago, the entire venue for this case can now be moved to Florida, potentially giving Trump allies a much more favorable legal battleground.]
