Ok...
Everyone seems to have a book these days.

JD Vance
Melania Trump
Kamala Harris....

Except Kamala plagiarized many sources for her book.
Just like Joe Biden plagiarized others for his campaign speeches. (Cost him an earlier nomination too)

Many if not most of these politicians have Ghost Writers write their books.

Well....
Ghost writing vx heavy editing....

Kamala's book was published in 2009.

Doesn't pass the smell test. Ghost writing is too expensive for a book with a small amount of sales to begin with. She was an unknown in 2009 and the royalties are insufficient usually to cover the cost of Ghost writers.

Now if you are someone like Joyce Meyers....it's affordable versus what she sells those books for with very little warehousing expenses. (Sells them at every public speech/sermon like concert singer/band schlock)
And her name branding is very good....so it's worth it for her. Kamala and a one off book? Nope! It becomes a huge sinkhole of money. Like $250k expense by the time all is said and done. (With nothing to show for it)

With modern resources available...

It's a piece of cake to check if a book is plagiarism or not. Even a teenager can do it easily enough.

Writing a book is more difficult than checking for plagiarism.

Publishing a book is easy
Selling it is hard. And publishers do not do any promotional stuff anymore.
