Picking up hitchhikers dos and donts

I can’t remember the last time I saw a hitchhiker.
Same here. Been at least thirty years since I have seen anyone with the thumb out.
Did it once when I was young and got picked up by a couple dudes right out of Deliverance.
Thought I was gonna die the entire ride, but they were nice and dropped us off right where we asked.
Never did it again after that though.

In many countries not named the United States, hitchhiking is not unusual at all, but America is the land of serial killers, and most people don't want to pick up a stranger.

I'm going to be driving from Pennsylvania to North Carolina next week for an event, and I am always careful as far as picking up people who are thumbing on the side of the road.

The #1 rule is to avoid picking up hitchhikers in vicinity of state and federal penitentiaries, particularly if they are men wearing orange jumpsuits.

Few men, outside of convicts doing time, find this kind of clothing to be fashionable and even guys who are being legitimately released are usually wearing something else when they are let out.

I get a lot of hitchhikers in my area it seems, but I rarely picked anyone up due to fear of safety and I didn't know them. I have no idea how in the old days I had family members who had no fear of picking up strangers, they could of been robbed or killed or maybe raped by the hitchhiker.

I also see a lot of hitchhikers in my area late at night that are female, but picking up these hitchhikers are risky since cops tend to hold stings and arrest people picking them up.

Where in the hell do you live where there are hitchhiking stings? Never heard of this

More guns = more shootings.
