Valid point. What about if they had to pay a fine first, then be required to leave and apply for reentry? I'm only talking about people who committed no crime and were productive while here. Didn't Trump say that he wanted people to self-deport and if they did, they avoided penalties? This might be the most cost-effective, practical way of dealing with up to 20 million people.

I think the entire illegal immigration issue has been allowed to happen to be used as a pretext for things like digital ID, mass surveillance, biometric tracking system, etc.

Congressional Republicans don't even have the balls to stand up and back Trump's proclamations of a national emergency pertaining fentanyl. This permits Trump to run amuck with tariffs to attack the problem. The Democrats challenged the emergency which called for a floor vote to be held within 15 days according to rules. House Republican leadership sidestepped the matter by declaring that from February through the end of this year would constitute a single day.

And this isn't a Republicans vs Democrats thing. The Democrats pulled similar crap under Biden to avoid accountability.

Congress is nothing but a gutless idiot's playground on both sides of the aisle.
