Perhaps time to challenge why a POTUS cannot be indicted

What the Mule fails to realize is that paying Hush Money is 100% legal. Further, the payment of Hush Money doesn't indicate that the payor is guilty of a dam thing. No crime here, sorry.

Except Cohen was charged with 2 counts of felony campaign finance violations. He's pleaded guilty to them, been convicted and is being sentenced for them on wednesday.
He's also named Trump as a co-conspirator in those actions.

Now tell us again how it's not illegal.

Again there is a process in place to remove a President to do so any other way would truly destabilize the government for decades and decades.

NO ONE is disputing the current procedure for impeachment........What this thread is about is the REMOVAL of the DOJ guideline (not a law) for indicting a sitting president on criminal charges when warranted..........This is what this thread is about.

Think, nat, for just a second.

Suppose President Trump were indicted and convicted and sent to prison. He would still be President, while hanging out in the yard with the rest of the guys. And considering the fact that the Bureau of Corrections is under his Dept. of Justice, it would be sort of bizarre, no?

He would be indicted and then congress would have no choice but to impeach and remove him.

Just because someone is indicted doesn't mean they are guilty of anything. Of course Congress would have a choice in the matter.

Cohen pleaded guilty to non-crimes to avoid punishment for his actual crimes as part of his deal

No, Cohen's guilty plea and his conviction says he's guilty, fool. Obviously their payments were illegal if he was charged for them.

Cohen was willing to plead, Mueller charged him with a "crime" which actually isn't illegal at all. I understand why Cohen did it- he gets off the hook for all the other things he's done.

So indicting a President means he needs to be impeached? Isn’t there due process? Would we need to have a trial?

You can't plead guilty to something that isn't a crime dumbass. The Court will not accept that plea.

In fact they'll look at you like you're a fucking loon

It ain't really too complicated, and it's based on the Constitution AND LOGIC, which is where it leaves Leftists scratching their pointy little heads.

The President cannot be indicted WHILE HE IS IN OFFICE. If he commits a real crime, sufficient to invoke the "high crimes and misdemeanors" language for impeachment, then he can be impeached by the HR and removed from office after trial in the Senate. Then he would be a private citizen and could be indicted.

Could he peremptorily pardon himself while President? Nobody knows. It would certainly be rude.

But if it's a bullshit charge, President Pence would likely pardon him after he leaves office. Promptly, would be my guess.

It remains to be seen as to whether a DOJ policy that came out of the Nixon White House prevails here...but should Pence pardon the Orange Blotus he is done.

Ford pardoned Nixon. Gone. GHW Pardoned the Iran Contra crooks...gone

Depends on the judge. If the judge in question is a Obama or Clinton appointee, why wouldn't they?

I still don't see why you think that President Trump will ever be removed from office by the Senate.

Take Sen. McConnell, example given. If he were to vote to annul the vote of the citizens of Kentucky Commonwealth in the 2016 election, his own career would be over. Seriously, he doesn't know any other trade except senatoring.

Same with the rest of the Republicans and some of the Democrats as well.

The fact that McConnell would likely protect Trump no matter what is a good case FOR indicting Trump

And as well it should be. I remember ultraliberal Arlen Specter going to Scottish Law to find a way to protect Slick Willy. Once the left decided to politicize the process in 1999, that changed the calculus.

Now, THAT is the whole point of my thread........Remove this bullshit DOJ "opinion" that a sitting president cannot be indicted.....and let the chips fall where the Founders wanted them to fall.

You can't be charged with "non- crimes" in federal court, dope.

There has to be an applicable federal statute to be charged in federal court, dope. The SDNY charged him. Not Mueller.
