Here's an idea, instead of leaving the bed you made only to make the same elsewhere, taking down the location with you because you're pig-headed and didn't learn anything the first time, how about applying some common sense instead, and become a conservative?

I just don't get it. The primary reason these urban areas are trash is because of the left's way of doing "things".

This is not a new problem. It has been going on since the 60s, but as is the case with everything it is exacerbated by increased population. The urban centers are decaying due to poor who can't leave and homeless who go there because of the proximity of social services. The middle class leaves seeking to distance themselves from undesirable elements of society and the businesses that kept the urban cores vibrant leave because their clientele is no longer there. Every city is dealing with the same problems. Currently the answer forwarded by city councils is to build trendy multi-family complexes and the accompanying trendy businesses. This is a losing proposition because at some point, those young folks want a more family friendly environment and they ultimately leave to suburban or rural areas as well. Jobs are no longer in the city core. Online retail is also part of the problem.

The urban areas have been trash for many, many years unless they raised taxes and redid the run-down parts.

Here's an idea: Privatized city boroughs.

Allow private businesses to buy up entire sectors of dilapidated city grime that they can level, then let them build entire largely self contained neighborhoods. They can charge fees to homeowners/residents for fundamental services like trash removal, road maintenance, perhaps even light security patrols, neighborhood beautification, and so forth, while also earning rent on commercial properties that provide the basic businesses that support the neighborhood.
