I disagree but, unlike most posters in this thread, I don't fear the future or think it must be dystopian. Technology is completely amoral, it is neither good nor evil, that comes from how we humans use it.According to their worldview, humans will be useless....
I was listening to a book today by a physicist and she asked a question: if a silicon chip could be made that completely replicated a single neuron in your brain, memories, synapses, etc., and that neuron was swapped for that chip, how would you know? Your brain would certainly seem the same to you and everyone who knew you. Would you still be human with that swapped neuron? What if every one of the trillions of neurons in your brain were each swapped with a chip that completely replicated that neuron's function, would you know? Would you still be 'human'?
