Patrick Bet-David goes one-on-one with economist Richard Wolff.

When I voted for Jimmy Carter to be reelected
the debt was $900 billion.

40 years of Reaganomics and we're at $26 trillion and climbing.

Actually Reagonomics was about cutting govt and deficits. In fact, Newt introduced a Balanced Budget Amendment that passed the House and fell 2 short in the Senate. Guess which party caused it to fail. Debt would be $0 now if not for Democrats?

Reagan and his neocon pals came in and made the changes in the antitrust laws and tax codes allowing private equity vultures to buy out most of the local businesses, which led to all the outsourcing of jobs and big box corporations like Walmart to come in and we all know the rest.

By the time Poppy Bush and Slick Willy cooked up NAFTA, we were screwed already......rode the tech boom for a few years then 9/11 changed the world.

Reagan and his neocon pals came in and made the changes in the antitrust laws
In 1982 the Reagan administration used the Sherman Act to break up AT&T into one long-distance company and seven regional "Baby Bells", arguing that competition should replace monopoly for the benefit of consumers and the economy as a whole.

And Clinton flushed that down the shitter when he signed the Telecom Act in 96.

allowing private equity vultures to buy out most of the local businesses,

huh?? there are 40 million small businesses. Most were bought out???Vultures because they buy from willing sellers? Are you a vulture when you go to supermarket???

corporations like Walmart to come in and we all know the rest.

yes poor people save a ton of money by shopping at Walmart. Are you against the poor and middle class?? OF course now Amazon threatens Walmart. Are you against Amazon too??

Telecom Act in 96.

The Telecommunications Act of 1996 is the first major overhaul of telecommunications law in almost 62 years. The goal of this new law is to let anyone enter any communications business -- to let any communications business compete in any market against any other.Jun 20, 2013

And?????????????

The conglomeration of our free press into the hands of 6 giant corporations was the result.

I count a ton more than 6. Do you know how many we should have? Do you feel some point of view is not adequately represented????

Are you denying that there is a multiconglomerate of global corporations that controls nearly everything ?
All just a "conspiracy theory" right ?

Give us you best example of this harmful control or admit you are mindlessly parroting your minders.
I don't generally parrot anyone, but when I do
it's mindfully.
So you are afraid to give us your best example? What does that teach us About the quality of your thinking, about the quality of your liberal thinking. It’s one thing to have feelings but quite another to have thoughts and defend them in public.

Posting this here so I won't forget to watch it later.

Economist Richard Wolff sits down with Patrick Bet-David to discuss socialism, capitalism and business.

Thanks for providing this debate where both participants were willing to listen to opposition arguments without resorting to slander or ridicule. Richard Wolff's views on worker-self-directed-enterprises have become much more popular since the onset of the Great Recession:

Democratizing the Workplace through “Worker Self-Directed Enterprises”

"Contemporary capitalism no longer 'delivers the goods' (which is understood as a rising standard of real wages) to the majority of people.

"That classic defense of its instability (e.g. recurrent bouts of unemployment), its deepening economic, political, and cultural inequalities, and its attendant injustices is no longer plausible.

"In the U.S. since the 1970s, and especially since 2007, those who control the dominant capitalist enterprises have made decisions that undermined the delivery of rising standards of living to the mass of people."

How does contemporary Marxism 'deliver the goods'

America abandoned capitalism long ago. This government does not want low prices. They want high prices.
