It should be pointed out that the FIRST thing Authoritarian Regimes do is to crack down on "sexual immorality", especially gay sex. Weimar Germany was very loosey, goosey. "Cabaret" isn't much of an exaggeration, but all of that nonsense ended when Hitler came into power. "Gay books" were banned and burned.
Both Orban and Putin have banned homosexuality and non-white, non-Christian immigration, which is why both are so popular with MAGA Americans. Putin and Orban have restored "morality" and preserved the "culture" of their nations. But Trump and his MAGA minions haven't told their voters the WHOLE story.

The war has made it worse, as more and more of the nations resources go to the war effort. Both nations have faced an exodus of their youngest, best educated workers, fleeing the dictatorships for better opportunities elsewhere. These are the workers both nations need to retain to succeed in future.
