The British left because of arab muslim violence and threats, handing the reins to the UN who had Islamic members voting on the partition plan. The Jews in Palestine achieved freedom by responding to violence - with courage and more violence - when the hostile Arabs - heavily armed and backed by several states slaughtered Jews - the Jews decided to grab the weapons they could manage to get and fight back, you actually think they manufactured weapons under the British Mandate or that they have anywhere to smuggle it from? (except for very generic missile called Davidka in 48, homemade)
