Ozempic

Say, Mort…..if you don’t lose weight this month on Ozempic, maybe you can ask the doctor to switch you to Wegovy.

Also, you didn’t say….and no problem if you’d rather not….but do you already have diabetes? If so, that would explain why the doctor picked Ozempic for you.
I do have diabetes type 2 i take Metformin already

Ah-ha. Then that explains why the doctor put you on Ozempic instead of Wegovy.

Not familiar with Metformin. I suppose that’s a diabetes drug?

why would a non-diabetic want to have his sugar regulated if it doesnt need to be?......it may cause worse problems then being over weight or it just might give you another problem to deal with........
I do have diabetes but only mild i guess its in controll with Metformin i take and im not sure Austria gives wegovoy because i never heard of wegovoy before and my doctors said ozempic Austria gives ozempic but i dont get it online i get it from public officially certified austrian drug stores and my insurance pays it im sure if i should not take it the insurance would not pay it

What news source? I quoted an article from a University. I never even heard of that other site you mentioned.
Sorry I got confused and thought I was responding to Luiza

This article says that Wegovy and Ozempic are the same.

if so why did they say this?....Ozempic is approved for people with Type 2 diabetes. And Wegovy is approved for people with obesity or those who are overweight and have health problems related to excess weight........one for diabetes one for weight....

just be careful mort .....it may not bother you at all......but if you still feel like eating it may not be working for you....

It’s marketing, and the way FDA requires it to be.

Look up Zepbound and Monjauro. Same thing. Identical drug, one marketed for diabetes and one for weight loss.

Because i read it can be dangerous some people say that. That's why im afraid but i guess with my weight and borderline diabetes i take Metformin already and the doctor prescribing it i guess its probably okay for me
You should be afraid. 1# as soon as you stop taking it, the weight comes back. The high price is also scary ($500-$1,000 a month) Major organs can be damaged ( not sure if it happens in non-diabetics or diabetics) I think this drug is going to come back haunting people who use it.

One has to weigh the risks of Ozempic against the risks of remaining obese. Getting so fat that you develop diabetes does major damage to organs. There is also increased chances of heart attacks and strokes.

My concern is that, being a hormone based drug, people will build a tolerance, the effectiveness will wane and people will have rebound weight gain similar to the majority of people who get gastric bypass.

On top of that, since ozempic doesn’t exactly promote lifestyle changes, these people wind up worse off than they were before.

Exactly! It teaches you nothing. The weight returns when you are so broke you can't pay for it.

No one here is a doctor, Mort. The only thing that matters is what your doctor advises you to do.

I find it somewhat perverse that the major food suppliers are selling foods so laden with artificial sugar and who knows what else that are making people fat that now we have drugs that people are taking to counteract the effects of eating too much processed food.

I used to have a boss who was diabetic and had an insulin pump visible under his shirt and every morning he walked into work with something called a "Big Gulp", a monster styrofoam cup full of sugary soda. He clearly didn't get it (in more ways than one, he would be fired a year later)

First they fatten people up, then your insurance buys you a drug to lose weight. Please eat healthy foods that are good for you or you are only making it easier to fit into a standard sized casket. (sorry to sound morbid but your health is most important)

I was informed today that i got a ozempic prescription approved should i take it or is it too dangerous?
Do you want to lose weight? Sounds like a good choice, better and safer than undergoing liposuction.

All the ads say it works in conjunction with healthier eating and exercise. I don’t think the drug itself actually reduces weight - it just makes it easier to adapt better eating habits.

To be fair, people make themselves fat. Genetics plays a role, but it ultimately boils down to personal responsibility.

You ignore that they are making fattening foods that do not produce satiety after eating them, they are designed for you to keep eating them non-stop. They have no responsibility to you and want you to over eat.
