Oy. Shingles.

Doc said to leave the rash alone and let it dry out, but before I found out they were shingles, I was putting neosporin on it, then a bandage. Cleared up pretty good, pretty fast. After he told me to stop doing that and just let it dry out, I tried it for one night but the neosporin took the itch out..and I could sleep better.
I guess it depends on how large the rash is..and the body it is on.

Just don't use cortisone cream. Cortisone makes a virus go into overdrive.

Now my head is itching.

Grace, I will send my sister an email and let her know what you said about the pills taking effect. And also the tip about taking the pills with food. Thanks. : )

I don't recall the dose I took, but I remember that my specialists said that I should take a higher dose than I was originally prescribed.

Any steroid does, trust me.

I was smearing aloe on it as well...at first. I have a potted plant in the back yard and I would snip off the leaves and smear the goop on it. Felt so cool to the skin. This was when it was hot from the swelling. So...aloe (fresh, straight from the plant) is what got the huge mound to go down.
This is why I thought skeeter bites. Know how you get that big lump and swelling after the bite? Same thing. But it wasn't skeeters.

LOL. Here's a picture of my sister from yesterday. Doesn't look like she's letting the shingles get her down too much! :clap2:

(I hope the picture of the dead King salmon doesn't bother anyone too much! Trust me, it will be eaten and greatly appreciated.)

She takes that salmon and she'll cut it in strips and smoke it and then can it in jars with a little oil. OMG, ambrosia!

Of course, fresh pan-fried, deep-fried or baked is pretty good, too! And actually, they take it and dry it...makes like a salmon jerky...delicious!

And she does have a great smile, doesn't she? I think she's a very happy person.

I like you, too, Gracie. : ) Don't know if you knew, but we're the same age. : )

My sister does live in Alaska, but while I live in the "big" city (Anchorage), she lives in the same small town we mostly grew up in, in Southeast Alaska. Total population about 1200. : ) So that outdoorsy stuff is just a normal part of her life. I kind of wonder if life would have been better if I had settled down there. But there are drawbacks to small town living, also.

By the way, when I say "big" city, Anchorage has less than 300,000 people. The entire state only has about 730,000 people.
