to say he was a conservative or str8 republican is just as insane

Except I'm not. He's a moderate. And I do hope the Republicans continue to drive them out of their party. Because it only shrinks their tent to the point where they can no longer win. Be the extremist party, it's a hoot.

Nonsense.

BOTH "tents" are really pretty tiny compared to the Indy and Moderate voters out there.

True, NJ has a history of electing moderate Republican governors for a few terms, followed by a Democrat, then another moderate Republican, etc etc,,. But Obama carried NJ by over 15 points only ONE YEAR ago. If Obama had any "magic" left his coattails would have allowed Corzine ( a lousy governor) to squeak out a win. For something so "unimportant" Obama visited the state 6 times and even sent in his election team to help Corzine out, and they still got creamed! The honeymoon is over.

In the end, it is not earth shattering, but it is a major defeat for team Obama.

Except over 60% of people said Obama had no effect on their vote. Only about 20% said their vote was against Obama. And 18% said Obama influenced them to vote for Corzine. 18% is about where Christie had lost between now and a couple months ago. Corzine was hated long before Obama came on the scene. This wasn't against Obama, it was strictly state politics and the voters saw it as such.

Despite what you may think, Obama is still a well-liked guy.

Thats what the left is now as well...extremists.

pelosi...Reid...obama

these are moderates to you?

This is the only race tonight that has national implications.

Democrats are poised to win a district that hasn't been represented by a Democrat since the 19th Century!

If this signals the beginning of a conservative "purge" of moderates from the GOP, this will end up being great news for Democrats, who would stand to gain the moderate voters who will be alienated by the "conservatives" who tonight have cost the GOP this historic seat and delivered one new vote for health care reform in the House.

Sarah Palin staked a lot on this race, and her touch once again seems to be pretty but deadly. I think Palin loses a lot of her luster with the GOP because of this loss.

Nonsense.

BOTH "tents" are really pretty tiny compared to the Indy and Moderate voters out there.

Democrats don't seem to be. Otherwise they would of got Health Care Reform passed long ago.

Again, you're trolling.

I wouldn't trust Pelosi and Reid to take out my trash, never mind be in Congress. As for Obama, the rest of the world considers him a Moderate and as do I. He has not been a Liberal since coming into office, that much is for sure.

Would have?

Of course, their biggest problem wasn't repugs on that, or cap and trade.

The "big tent" deal is a myth. Neither party has a big tent, when compared to the actual voters out there. They both have small, partisan tents.

oo god....Obama hasn't been a Liberal since coming into office???

I might have to make that my new sig

Obama can only do so much. Corzine wasn't going to win this despite how it looked towards the end. He fucked over too many people by raising taxes to win. Christie is not going to be any better. And come next time, Democrats will be celebrating wins in NJ and VA again.

Most of those who identify themselves as "conservative" are pretty moderate, I'd wager.

For now......

It will stay that way. Just because one is a Democrat doesn't make them a Liberal. The majority of Democrats do not see themselves as Liberal. I'm a Liberal and I'm not a Democrat.

Corzine simply ran a terrible campaign, wasn't a sympathetic candidate, and really I think this was less of a referendum on Obama as it was about jobs and the economy in NJ.
