Over the past few decades, the US Middle class has shrunk from 65% to 45% of the countries population.

It is the greatest issue of our time. The well-being of the citizenry …Well what could be done about this. Will anything be done about this? Will the middle class continue to shrink in the country. Whether people blame the right or the left for the shrinking of the middle class… will we see the middle class actually get stronger in the future?

And largely due to Republican policies, which are consistently anti-worker.

No, I'm not claiming Democrats are saints, but Republicans are consistently much worse.

Which side hates unions? Which side hates minimum wage increases? Which side consistently attacks worker protections?

China stole your nation.

THe MSS will go down as the most successful and ruthless in such a short period of time. They focused on all out war against America and celebrated their foreign entanglements as they stole the manufacturing from America that once kept America in the global drivers seat.

I hate the term middle class. Or lower class. Or upper class.

We don’t have classes in America. What’s actually being discussed (with confusion and overlaps) is income level.

And without clicking a video link which appears to primarily address the Kirk assassination, maybe the OP can share the gist of this alleged decrease in the percentage of so-called middle class?

Lots of the middle class was lost to the upper class. :)

What is the definition of middle class?

Where did they go?

More tax cuts for the billionaires will solve the problem.

Since the 80's, we've misapplied capitalism by making it top-down.
To no surprise, the middle class has stagnated and declined as the top grew wealthier.
As a result, a shitty idea like socialism is gaining in popularity.
The US has three companies worth more than $3T.
Elon is approaching Trillionaire, so is Larry Ellison.
The top 10% have more wealth than the bottom 90%.

OK do you think the middle class will grow or shrink even more into the future?

I got your opinion. There are numerous sources that are discussing the term middle class and say that has gone down significantly since the 1970s. Sometimes the percentages differ by source, but generally it is quite a large decrease.

I have yet to come across any noteworthy source saying the middle class has actually strengthened since the 1970s.

If you don’t like the term middle class, that’s fine. But it is a term that is used across the board politically on both the left and right and from many different sources.

Such terminology often involves retooling of what qualifies as middle income. It’s difficult to compare one period of time versus another period of time with such fluid definitions and metrics.

I’m not buying it.

Where do you think the ones that used to be middle class are now?

I’m just going by the numbers listed by a bunch of sources. A lot of the issue is young men and women are not entering the middle class. Like I said, I’m simply going by the numbers. The middle class today is not as strong as it used to be.
