Over the past few decades, the US Middle class has shrunk from 65% to 45% of the countries population.

Come on! We transfer wealth with our tax system. The younger generations are footing the bill to keep the older ones, the sickly, the lazy and corrupted living on their dime. Those groups may have a percentage of the middle class. Yet the employment created is less in value as the costs have risen to compensate for the checks and benefits to be doled out. So, we live off of foreign production with people working in those nations not getting the pay and benefits we see and the products we purchase are cheaper.

It matters little what folks that are dedicated to their party think or feel on this topic. Elections are won by who can appeal, (and produce results,) to the moderates and independents. Those folks always vote on cost of living and opportunity. And if they are being forgotten, they will vote for more government involvement in their lives if they think it will help them.

The reality of this basic fact of American life will be revealed by elections. The absolute numbers of families where children are now doing worse than their parents has, without a doubt increased. Sure, a lot of children are doing better than their parents, but far more are doing much worse. No denial of reality will help either party in elections until and unless they do something about this.

The politics in the parties on both sides reflects this reality. Some felt Trump would do a better job of reversing this trend and bring good paying middle class jobs back to America, while keeping the cost of living down. Empirically he has made zero progress toward that end. Mandami won his primary, and a larger portion of those who support socialism in the DNC has grown by a shocking percentage, precisely because of this reality.
This type of thing happened previous to FDR getting elected. And the DNC will start winning elections if the GOP does not do a better job of reversing this tread.
So your admitting that Republican mantra of cut taxes and let someone else pay for it hasn't worked..
Look at Trump's two tax cuts and Bush's tax cut... Massive increase in deficit...

Note: Two percentage is pretty OK... The GDP grows by that a year and that is very manageable... It is getting over that when you are fooling yourself...
Lets compare to Canda, The US taxes is 11% lower but its spending is only 5.5% lower... You have to consider the US massive defence spending which is so large that it becomes obvious it is built on being the world's only super power and it has many advantages too..
So the GOP idea is to cut the taxes (Income) more... The trickle down is confirmed bullshit... So please tell us, where is the money coming from...
US cutting spending is going to cripple their Infrastructure, Intellectual Property (Education), Health Systems,... going forward... DOGE showed there is very little to effectively cut and there are large consequences, US is loosing mineral rights all over the world with USAID cuts... China is securing those resources, if you want to built any computer chip in the future it looks like China is becoming more and more the only place to buy..
So please explain how you want it to work without it being China First?

And yet it is wealthy Democrats in high tax blue states that threw a fit when Trump capped their federal property tax deduction. Democrats are fine with higher taxes as long as it is on somebody else.
You know Biden gave this country to Trump with virtually full employment... We consider 3.2% - 3.5% full employment...
The unemployed thing is a bit of a joke, it is the quality of the jobs, How much you getting paid...
Manufacturing jobs are low paid now.. Third world countries have low wage workers and now they have access to investment capital too... We have moved on, factory jobs are going the way of coal jobs...
Life changes, keep looking back and you will be left behind... Trump sold the myth that you can go back and it can all go back to what it was like before...

Some, but percent-wise more went down than up. Of course part of that is what the expectations of “middle class” people are. They’re far higher now than they were when my family was lower-middle class in the 1980s.
