Well, it is one solution of many solutions. It depends on what Israel thinks is best for the nation. Being responsible for the security of the disputed territory is only one aspect. There will always be discontent if there are no opportunities for the Arab Palestinians.

In the long term, this could become a financial albatross for Israel if they do not institute Arab Palestinian public works projects to make a better territory.

Your comparison doesn´t work. The Gazans and Westbankers don´t want to be part of the society. They want to replace it by their own which would mean Israelis would not be allowed to live.
