. Was she sawing off the barrel or was she destroying the weapon by sawing off (in what she figured was half the weapon by getting part of the handle stock in the cut as well) ??? Making hay out of some of these things can sometimes backfire if it is proven that the weapon was destroyed in the event, and not modified in the event. I would say that the stunt was aimed at her making a statement to say that she hates the weapons and that they should be destroyed.

Karen Mallard, who is running for Virginia’s second congressional district, went viral this week after she posted a video to her Facebook page that showed her cutting the barrel off of an AR-15 rifle that her husband bought “a while back.”

Apparently, she attempted to destroy the rifle, only when she thought she could score political points.
