Oops! Biden Wants To Import More Canadian Oil But He Killed The Keystone Pipeline

Is that why oil companies are making record profits never seen before in history???
There's no doubt that the artificial shortages Biden created have been a huge favor to the companies who own millions of barrels bought pre-Biden that they can now sell at Biden-era prices.

The goal shouldn't be to make oil companies wealthier, as Biden has done. The goal should be to require wealth seekers to offer better products at lower prices. The free market does this naturally.

All the what?

Oil?

So it is oil. Oil that can be refined into gasoline.

An inconvenient truth. . . .
They can't make a profit unless it's refined in the free trade zone and that means it can't be sold in the US. You should know that by now.

Nobody stores crude above ground. That's a loser's deal and it increases cost.

If that's true how could it be a problem? Oil companies wont use the pipeline if it isn't profitable.

And just to be clear, you now sdmit that it is oil that we are talking about?

China owns Canadian tarsands. There's no benefit to US consumers or taxpayers. Maybe you don't know there's a huge difference between Canadian crude oil and Canadian tarsands.

I happen to pass through Pasadena, a suburb of Houston almost daily. I can assure you that there are huge above ground tanks of crude oil and other petroleum products there.

Even if you were right, again it's a self solving problem. If it isn't profitable oil companies won't do it.

See the pattern of free market solving its own issues?

Petroleum products are a worldwide market.

Yes nothing is ever exactly like something else.

Tar sands are petroleum raw products from which gasoline can be refined? Yes or no?

It's sludge. Some years ago several refineries in the Midwest refitted their refineries to handle Canadian tarsands and sold the gasoline in the region. TransCanada will abandon those refineries because they can substantially increase their profits shipping overseas from the free trade zone. It benefits the Chinese not US consumers or taxpayers.

That was a pretty long yes, but at least we got there.

Again, petroleum products are not like local honey. They are sold on a global market. Reduce the supply anywhere and price goes up everywhere.

We saw it with our own eyes Biden's first year in office, well before the invasion of Ukraine.

You still don't know the difference between Canadian crude oil and Canadian tarsands. I give up. Stay stupid.

The dumb is so strong with Biden and his stupid administration. Just dumber than dumb.

In a desperate effort to alleviate pressure at the pump that’s left Americans coping with the highest gas prices on record compounded by inflation, the Biden administration is reportedly seeking ways to import more oil from Canada. Too bad President Joe Biden spiked the Keystone XL Pipeline that was expected to bring 830,000 barrels of Canadian crude to Gulf refineries upon inauguration.
The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday the White House is now facing the consequences of its own war on domestic energy projects using fossil fuels but refuses to reverse course.
“Biden administration officials are seeking ways to boost oil imports from Canada, people familiar with the situation say, but with one big caveat—they don’t want to resurrect the Keystone XL pipeline that President Biden effectively killed on his first day in office,” the Journal wrote. “The people said deliberations are in early stages and that no clear-cut solutions have emerged.”
Instead, White House alternatives point to rail for transport, undermining the purpose of its Keystone cancellation with environmental risks and emissions elevated in comparison to those presented by pipeline.
“Canada could export some more oil via rail, according to analysts and others familiar with the situation, and it could also pump more oil by increasing pressure on existing lines or by installing larger pipelines along permitted routes,” the Journal added. “Those options, however, offer limited potential because rail transport is expensive and existing pipelines are at or near capacity.”
When explaining options to circumnavigate the surprise shutdown of the Colonial Pipeline after a ransomware attack last spring, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm explained her preference for pipe over rail for its reliability.
...

The Keystone pipeline has been in operation for a long time. What Biden stopped was an extension to the pipeline that would have provided a slightly shorter route.

There's no substantial loss of oil imports due to this being canceled.

They mine tarsands. It's the consistency of fudge. It's so low grade and corrosive they can't give it away. XL is just a way for the Chinese owners of Canadian tarsands to turn a profit at our expense.

Tarsands contain oil. Oil that we would refine and resell the refined products to South America and Europe.

The Chinese had nothing to do with Keystone XL. And it had no cost to us.

Keystone XL is an export pipeline. According to presentations to investors, Gulf Coast refiners plan to refine the cheap Canadian crude supplied by the pipeline into diesel and other products for export to Europe and Latin America. Proceeds from these exports are earned tax-free. Much of the fuel refined from the pipeline’s heavy crude oil will never reach U.S. drivers’ tanks.

DUMB is the belief that this junk was going to be refined for use in America. Reading The Federalist won`t make dumb people any less dumb.

Derp. It would have added 830,000 bbls per day to the world market.

No one here said the refined product was for use in America other than your leftoid pals.
