It would take a REALLY extreme situation for him to ban energy and without all the provinces and the feds agreeing, he can't stop it.

Cross border energy is federal jurisdiction I imagine but its a provincial offering which makes it quite complicated.

The West of Alberta and Saskatchewan are the holdouts, they wont accept much limitations on energy to the U.S. Now, a 25% tariff is something he can apply, but to deny ANY energy at all would probably be a breach of contract.

My first instinct was that Trump was bluffing about these tariffs to squeeze Canada and Mexico in the USMCA re-negotiations. Lutnick is like a used car salesman, just horrible at lying lol.

Look, I could be wrong but he would need to keep these tariffs on for at least a year and most who have a clue just assumed he is bluffing.

THe China tariffs, ok. Even tariffs on European cars make more sense due to VAT. Canada has low tariffs except for dairy and other products. We also do block competition.

I would be quite happy if Trump was able to break down access barriers. I wont drink U.S milk to be honest (I dont drink milk often) but it would be great to have banking options, cable/telecom etc. Especially banking options and/or full access to netflix etc and not regional blocking of movies.
