A stronger US military is not something Russia would actively encourage.

We don't have tanks or arty on the ground there.

The Russians could roll over any amphibious force the US ever landed anywhere in Europe.

So I do not believe Putin is too worried about Trump as a military genius.

Putin is the lone superpower in Europe with his tanks and arty, even as China is the lone superpower in Asia with its huge infantry armies.

Even though the President is the Commander-in-Chief you do know there are Generals that actually conduct the wars. Most of our Generals have more combat experience than anything the Russians and Chinese have. Same with our troops. Russia and China just don't compare in that department.
