One of the reasons USPS has a hard time staying solvent

Price doesn't reflect service- that's why the PO always has to raise rates- well that and the devaluing of US Federal Reserve Notes - and BTW, BOTH SIDES subscribe to it- and did long before Trump was POTUS- you moron.
Both sides subscribed to stiffing the USPS? That's what the topic is here.

You kind of get the feeling this is deliberate on the Trump administration's part. Doing everything they can to hamstring the USPS..Postal Service Stiffed $20 Million Cost of Delivering Trump COVID-19 Mailer

Go get Bent, Homson, with another one of your fool threads. The Post Office's problems started a LONG TIME AGO long before Donald. So why don't you be a good American and HELP THEM OUT with a 29 cent stamp to save yourself from spending several dollars in gasoline and other wear and tear on your car just to drive to the poll instead!

Didn't say the problem just started..said getting stiffed by a government agency is one reason they have trouble staying under cost.

29 Cents hasn't got you anything mailed lately, since 55 cents is the cost of the stamp.

Whatever it is. Pocket change. When I need stamps I just buy a roll, never stop to ask what they are now.

Of course the use of F/B , Twitter and other email abilities havent stiffed the USPS by not having to by those forever stamps that just sit in some drawer some place. Or on-line banking where checks are sent without any paper used.

The USPS is a dinosaur like Amtrak is. Both lose billions of dollars a year in operating expenses and retirements, and gets billions of dollars a year in bail outs from the US tax dollars. So we pay for other peoples retirements so they can live comfortably while many others have to live barely making it paycheck to paycheck...

Apparently that sets you and me apart from the CDC and other federal government departments. You and I pay for our stamps, like any of the other bills that come in. I have worked for nationwide companies, but never one that could blow off $25,000,000 to $30,000,000 dollars of earned revenue on services provided. Big draw on cash flow there.

I disagree.
Deliveries to the door are increasing, not decreasing, and the Post Office is about half the price of FedEx or UPS. It should greatly be expanded.
And so should Amtrak.
Fossil fuels are running out, and trains are by far the most efficient means of transport, right after ships. Planes and trucks won't be able to have enough fossil fuel in a couple decades, and can not run on batteries an be competitive. In fact, if we did high speed rail, we could get people to destinations faster than flying, due to the fact airports have to be far away and flight spaced apart.

Then let them do their business on their own and stop giving them our tax dollars to stay open. If they are good as you say, they will remain, if they fail.......So be it.

Yo, dick for brains, i never said anything about railroads and transporting goods, but Amtrak the worthless carrier of people, who have shitty cars no one wants to ride in, let alone 10s of hours to get someplace when it can take 1 to 2 hours for jets to do the same thing. As for Highspeed rail, wont happen because we have too many stops between two cities, or if that, too many crossings. Unless they elevate the rails, highspeed is still a pipedream...

Wrong.
If we let the post office and Amtrak go on a for profit basis, then it would cost more to send mail to or get to distant rural places where poor people live.
That would be extremely harmful and discriminatory against poor people, who deserve the same services as everyone else.
There are lots of essential services like that which should be subsidized to prevent poor people from having to pay more than the wealthy.
That includes health care, education, transportation, communications, etc.
For example, the government should subsidize fiber optic to every home in the country, so everyone gets reasonable internet access.
Essential social services should NOT be on a profit basis.
A democratic republic can not survive with out equality of essential social services.
