Omaha Steaks

That would be a dot com address. Omaha Steaks online. ( didn't know if I could have put that in the OP )

We find those online commercials to be something we would be interested in ordering, but before we do, we would like to know if anyone here has tried those steaks, etc., and has an opinion on the taste and quality according to them. If so, would you ever order from them again? Their reviews sound positive but the company may not be printing many negative ones. :eusa_think:

So, dear member, in your opinion, would my butcher cut filet or bacon wrapped filet be tender and delicious, medium rare and how about the porterhouse, cooked medium rare? And those burgers? Anyone try the lobster with the filet? Yum. That is what I want. Can you recommend it? He wants the porterhouse.

Again, if price is no object, are Omaha Steaks tender and delicious? As advertised. 🥩

Thanks, for any replies.
Third, or maybe fourth straight year, the company I work for handed them out for Christmas.

It's beef, and it's good depending on how you prepare it.

The quality is good, and the packages are pretty diverse.

It comes packaged very, very well. Sealed professionally with dry ice to keep it cold for the transit.

I would recommend, but as others have stated, there are other meat companies out there.

I'd look into a local meat supplier where you can buy 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, and a full cow much cheaper than at the store, but you'll have to pay either a butcher or use their butcher.

The fillets are a 5oz steak, small. That's just the right size for me and my bride.
Keeps us honest. As far as flavor, I BBQ them and throw in some apple wood for flavoring.
The chops are 5oz also, not too much flavor but with a sauce, who cares, right?
Stay away from the chicken, eat cardboard instead. Definitely overpriced, but
the portion control is wonderful.
A little off topic, Meister, but we went to Fujiyama in Liberty Lake a little over a week ago and I had the filet and lobster. It was SPECTACULAR and the portions were perfect for my other half and I, septuagenarians. Best meal I've had since I moved to this area 12 years ago.

I just bought a quarter of a calf that was raised by very good friends of mine. It's been hanging for a week.

We've been looking for another place to go for dinner. I'm going to try that
establishment. It's just across the state line. We usually go to Barlows (Liberty Lake) and
the Black Angus Spokane Valley. Thank you, CA

You should have made that clear in your post.

Anyway, still too expensive for what you get. Might as well buy steak at the 7-11 as you are paying for the convivence given what shipping is these days.
Yeah I forgot to mention it. Just for you I'll go stand in the corner for 15 minutes.

A lot of a good steak is how you cook it.
While I tend to agree, a big part of a steak is the sourcing. Here is what Omaha does well. They have been around for over a hundred years I believe and they are sticking with the same sources, now multi-generational, that they always have. So you can get a good, consistent product, albeit nothing to get overly excited about.

And another part of a good steak is, quite honestly, how it is cut. And here Omaha does well too. As mentioned, portion control is good, but the trim is tight, the cuts are precise. Are there better options? Yes, my son likes Snake River Farms. But Omaha will do in a pinch.

One place I would love to be able to travel to. My FIL was from Lake Kawaguchi, Yamanashi Prefecture. Beautiful!

I'd like to do Japan. Wouldn't mind visiting too. LOL

Seriously, I'd like to go and get out in the countryside among those who are not financially beholden to the tourist industry. Meet the people and enjoy their spectacular scenery. Maybe be a bit macabre and visit a few of the tsunami sites to see how well they've recovered.

But you are. Your race may not be Asian, but you ARE Japanese. That's how that works. lol
Naw, I could have claimed birthright citizenship until I was 19, but I didn't and those days are long gone. Sometimes I wonder why I didn't. Nope, I'm American through and through. Born in a military hospital to two American parents.

Ah, okay. I was wondering if you were in a military family or with a diplomat.

Perfectly understandable.

I know, there's so much I'd like to see there. I think when you get out into the countryside, you find better food, too.

You'd love it. If you get away from the cities, there are some beautiful and relaxing ryokan. Often paired with hot springs. As for me, I generally like the cities. Some of the touristy spots are getting a little tired of all the sometimes inadvertently rude visitors, so maybe the countryside is best after all.

You can find fantastic food just about anywhere. Even at a 7-11!

I'd really like to visit the Ronin. I heard, don't know for sure, that there is a temple to the 47 Ronin. But if I remember, they said it was in Tokyo?
