Olive Garden will close on Christmas. Score one for conservatives

Any employer worth working for offers 2x holiday pay. So if one is making $30 pet hour thats $60 per hour. The way it should be.
No shit, if I'm an employee looking for hours I'd be pissed I missed-out on that.

Then there's the folks living alone and looking for a place to eat.

Oh well.

Pretty low bar for "winning" if stores closing on a big holiday is it. I mean even liquor stores are opening on Sundays these days so conservatives have already lost the war.

I have no issue with stores closing on Christmas.

^^ The never ending culture wars between the left and the right, show the right starting to win some battles. Recently it was Cracker Barrel who was FORCED to stop their "changeover", bring back the old white guy and his barrel, get out of the "woke" business, and just go back to making good food. Their CEO is hanging on by a thread, by the way.

This time, it's Olive Garden who decided that the almighty dollar isn't quite as important this year, and they will close all of their restaurants for Christmas, and give their employees the day off. Nice job, OG.

From the article: Walmart, Target, Costco, and Trader Joe's, have also adopted Christmas Day closures.

Small wins, but they add up.
Walmart and target have always closed on christmas eve and not opened until the 26th as far as I know, and who the hell goes for italian chain restaurant food on christmas anyway??

Nor do i. I also have no problem with those that have them open. This is really a non issue. Perhaps there are workers struggling who need the holiday pay.
Give employees the day off to spend with loved ones.

Most places already have predetermined their schedules.

I agree this is a non issue. If employees have an issue with their workplace being closed on Christmas, work somewhere else.

True. And not all business owners celebrate our holidays so its business as usual.

**** you. I eat there at least once a week.
I agree with you here. Olive Garden is not bad.

There is nothing wrong with being open on Christmas Day as there are plenty of restaurants open on that day that offer Christmas dinners.

I swear people get triggered over nothing.

“No Chicken Parmigiana for you!”

Olive Garden is not closing out of respect for Christians.

They are doing it out of respect for their employees

It's been interesting to watch hyperpartisan politics seep into more and more of our culture over the last 10-15 years. Now we're seeing it infect sports, music, business, religion, families, relationships, even restaurants. It poisons everything it touches.

Those who have a vested professional interest in dividing us as much as possible are winning. Or, they've won.

What a damn shame. America still had so much potential, and we've pissed it away for simple tribalism.
How so? They are assholes for forcing employees to work on Christmas day.

Only essential places should be open that day.

When I was young wasnt jack shit open xmas day.

I bet you laughed in Scrooged when he stapled antlers to the dog?

You liked that didnt you?

Most people celebrate Christmas.
Yep, but not all. And for many theyd rather work because its easier to avoid stressful holiday situations. Theres all minds of sitatuons out there including those that spend the holiday at home by tbemselves. Beans and franks is what they have.
