OK libs, when do you start admitting this was a mistake?

Correct, fascist is a better word than socialist.

It wasn't spreading money around to everyone, it was spreading US taxpayer dollars around to bank execs to spend how they saw fit, so a fascist policy.

The fearmongering worked on you, not me. I work at a bank that got TARP funds, guess what? We have a hiring freeze, layoffs are probably coming, we're still foreclosing on homes at a sky high rate, our stock price is plummeting. Hooray TARP!

There's a reason most crazy U.S. policies have bipartisan support, because the parties are 2 cheeks on the same backside.

Do you seriously not get it? You work at a bank and you don't get this? What are you, the janitor?

TARP wasn't handouts to bank executives, TARP was a program to purchase toxic assets from banks, to prevent them from failing. And so far the net cost has only been around 25 billion. Congressional Budget Office - Report on the Troubled Asset Relief Program -- November 2010 A pittance to pay to keep the banking system from falling on its face.

Do you have any idea what happens if too many banks fail? Did you study history in custodial school?

yes...if too many banks fail, there are hundreds of other smaller banks that would gladly pick up the slack.

Banks don't work like that. When a bank collapses, the capital vanishes. There's no "slack" to pick up without significant government intervention. That's why we banks are routinely saved while most businesses are routinely allowed to fail.

OK.

I challenge you to make the case, in detail, that things would be better if John McCain had been elected.

1. Show what would have been better.

2. Show exactly how it would have been better, with specific attention to how McCain himself would have made it better.

I have little confidence this will be forthcoming any time soon.

Agreed.

My breath is not being held.

Why would any-one try and respond to that? You liberals beat all I have ever seen. You make up an event that never happened and then you call the man out for not responding to an event that never occurred.
Its a form a race baiting. make the accusation

Gentlemen this is about the failed policies of Pelosi, Reid and Obama
Those are the facts
trying to convince people that McCain had anything to do with that has as much chance as me explaining to you what JM would have done different
Now lets get the trained response, ignore the real issues and jump on another accusation

[1) those govt jobs destroyed wealth. the tax payer lost close to 1 trillion dollars in cash for those temporary jobs.

That's nonsense. It doesn't make sense at any level. First of all, how could the taxpayer lose 'cash' for those jobs (which weren't all government jobs in the first place) when taxes weren't raised to pay for them?

What increase of federal revenue did we get from the stimulus. YOU KNOW THE DAMN POINT OF THE ENTIRE THING.

You can't respond to a hypothetical? And yet you want to replace Obama with a Republican on the grounds that hypothetically a Republican could do better?

So...what was McCain going to do that would have been better?

Listen, Carb - everybody knows things would be completely different if McCain was president.

McCain would have followed the Bush plan to get out of Iraq. He would have increased troops in Afghanistan to finally try to bring some stability there. He would have cut taxes, kept the Bush-era tax cuts on top earners in place. He would have kept Guantanamo open and he would have been pressured into saving our largest automakers. He would have requested and partially spent the second TARP payment.

See how different he would have been?

Well HUH hummm Huh welll let me be clear...... Uh did I tell you the story about the carpet salesman?

I'll be damned if this makes any sense. Unfetter Capitalism. I guess we just don't learn our lessons well. When Glass Steagal was repealed it opened the door for the fraudulent banking practices that gave us the derivative market. Worthless paper passed off by the vaunted big ratings companies as AAA. That's what collapsed the world economy.

A trillion dollar tax cut for the wealthiest Americans. That certainly contributed to the national debt.

Claiming the ONLY way American industry could possibly be competitive in the world market is to lower wages benefits, environmental and workplace safety regulations while demonizing American labor as lazy, greedy and corrupt. That results in a lowering of our standard of living. In essence, making America China or India. And then petitioning the American worker to buy into this.

Financing two wars on foreign debt as if that would never come back to haunt us fiscally.

Getting elected in the face of all these problems and rather than governing or offering solutions, doing nothing but obstructing any effort to solve the problems only for political gain. And seeking that political gain in the face of disastrous approval ratings.

How on earth can doing nothing, playing politics and being petulant be a force for good?

Are Americans truly this willing to cede more power to faceless corporate interests? Can giving the keys to our future to lobbyists so corporations might continue to bleed the American wage earner white really be the path to American prosperity?

We got whatever the difference in tax receipts are between an employed person and an unemployed person times the number of jobs that were saved or created by the stimulus,

plus tax revenues generated by the increased buying power of those workers.

Why would anyone sort to that level of denial?

What get's me is that you somehow think the rich in congress care more about you than rich that will actually hire you. Who would have ever thought that.:eusa_whistle:

You are BLAMING the economy on the DEMOCRATS. Your premise is entirely based on the claim that the economy is how is BECAUSE of DEMOCRATS.

It's your own premise that demands you provide the case that things would have been better with a Republican president.

If you cannot provide such a case, then it stands to reason that there is no cause and effect argument to be made that pins the blame on Obama policies, or Democratic policies.

Job creators? No matter how much we kow tow to them, they are only interested in more for themselves and nothing for the American worker.

Politically the sitting president gets blamed for a bad economy whether it was his fault or not.

We get that.

But you are claiming the bad economy IS the president's, and the Democrats', fault. You need to prove that if you're going to claim it,

and part of proving that has to be to show how things would have been better, in your best estimate,

had Obama not been elected.

HOW MANY OF THOSE MENTIONED WOULD YOU ALSO FIND ON THE PAYROLL OF THOSE RICH PEOPLE IN CONGRESS. I will not look it up but there are some information on the subject if you want to know the truth about the people you support.
