Ok I'm going to say that the Qatar plane is a bad deal.

I thought it would be available within months to use as a replacement for the aging fleet of Air Force One standbys. But that's not the case. It wouldn't be ready until about 2029 which is about the same time the two brand new planes will be ready to go.

Ultimately there's no reason to pursue it anymore.
Hopefully cooler heads will prevail here and the whole thing will just die on the vine.

It has too much potential to smell like personal gain at this point.

But that's just me.

“potential to smell like personal gain”!!!!!!!!

What a joke!

It reeked of it, and Trump’s bellicose declarations did not help.

He neither knows nor cares what impact his closing, erratic behavior and flagrant corruption on our respect and standing in the world.

Well I don't of course....
Yes you are right....
I didn't realize that's the two Air Force One planes were in such poor condition. I was hoping that this gift plane would be able to do the job in a matter of months but apparently it's a two to three year makeover.
word.......

Come now You have to be honest and admit that it's particularly loathsome to you simply because of the name attached to it did not because of the action. The action itself is more than common down in Sodom on the Potomac.

I am disgusted that Trump would accept anything from Qatar.

  • Boeing secured an agreement to sell Qatar Airways up to 210 aircraft.
  • Qatar Airways also signed an agreement with GE Aerospace for more than 400 engines to power the Boeing planes.
  • Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg appeared alongside President Donald Trump in Doha for a signing ceremony on the deal for the 787 Dreamliner and 777X planes.
  • The deal could draw more scrutiny toward President Donald Trump’s defense of Qatar’s offer to gift the U.S. a luxury 747 jet that will act as the new Air Force One.
Just today. Record deal?

No, I don’t.

I can’t even think of an instance of flagrant large scale bribery in the last 100 years.

And I am not talking about just US leaders.

your attempt to minimize it with an “they all do it” broad brush is hypocritical.

Out of one side of your mouth, you decry bribery as “common down in Sodom on the Patomac”.

out of the other, you shrug off the biggest bribe in world history.

Two faced, and dishonest.
Given your two faced response, are you OK with a scheme that shouts to the whole world thst Trump can be bought?

You are simply dishonest. You don't know if it's a bribe that's an assumption you make and it's only your opinion. Given a choice of characterizations you are naturally going to select the one that villanizes the most. Of course bribery is common in DC there are 12,000 lobbyists and nearly 70,000 influence peddaling constructs down there constantly throwing money at the lawmakers.... All of them and I mean all of them are on the take.

Was the Statue of Liberty a bribe?

This may be good leverage against Boeing, if they are slow walking the new plane or insisting on cost overruns.
Wow.....damn good point.
They hate Trump for some reason.
Probably don't want to provide a plane until the next president. Give the contract to Airbus.

Yeah, I think the jet is a stupid idea but not because democrats say it is an illegal expensive gift. I mean Qatar mediates between western countries and terrorists, which means they are not against terrorists. I can't imagine all of the different senarios of security risks involved with this.

Have you any interest in anything that has actually happened in the world or are you going whine about gossip and rumors? At this point, that is all this story is. Congress has to approve anything that happens in regard to this plane. Trump really has no say.
