What if the condition is that the students must live and work in the USA for 25 years before deciding to return to China. Or maybe it is contingent on 800,000 American students living and educating there?
Thing is, you just don't know. You are talking out of your ass. I'm fairly sick of people, after giving Biden a free pass on everything no matter how bad he did, now wanting to dump Trump and give up on him declaring him a lost loser at the first sight of anything which on first glance doesn't look peachy cream to them.
In most every dealing Trump has done this year, he first gets the ball rolling with an offer, then switches channels midway through. The trick is to get Putin and Xi both sitting at the table willing to negotiate.

Trump sent Ivanka to China. She held conferences in fancy Chinese hotels. Buy one of Trump's overpriced Condos, like at least half a million, get citizenship. Not unlike, what does he call it, his "Gold" Visa? And these 600,000 students, they are Chinese rejects, no shit. Top five engineering schools in the world, here let me list them.

I could go on, MIT finally shows up at number 13. Until then, one from Hong Kong, another from Singapore, and the rest from China. So, the question is, why would we take these Chinese rejects instead of American students?
There are high schools, fancy preparatory high schools, in California with Lamborghini's and Bentley's in the student parking lot. Not American students, Chinese students, children of Chinese coal barons who just are not smart enough to make it in China. I mean think about it, I really don't think it shows much parenting skills if you give your second rate student son a Lamgorghini and a free ticket to an American High School. These are the students Trump wants to let in.

China has the rare earth minerals and they are squeezing America into harming their own national security. This is similar to forcing companies who operate in China to share IP.
You can't even own land in China and they buy up miles of farmland near military bases?! Has America become this soft on REAL global threats?
It may be a tactic. He’ll demand a lot in return for this, and (hopefully) negotiate a much smaller number.

IMHO there should be no Chi-Com nationals in the country, much less in our schools.

Otherwise yes, this is not good.
Any spy activity is immediate grounds for prison and forfeit of all fees; as I said the US spooks will need to be vigilant. And no; I am NOT being dismissive of the naysayers. They have a very strong set of points that must be addressed.

Especially if you're Chinese. One reason why so many Chinese folks, when they get some money together, come over here to buy a big house, send their kids to American schools, and worship freely.
