Oil production still low

Before Donald Trump took office, the record for oil production in one month was 308 million barrels in 1970 under Richard Nixon. Then Nixon created the EPA, we became too dependent on Middle Eastern oil, and Jimmy Carter refused to smash OPEC.

Things changed after the 2016 election. Donald Trump fought constantly to help our struggling fossil fuels industry. Production peaked at about 397 million barrels per month before the totally unnecessary economic shutdown. We became a net exporter of oil and were able to leave the Middle East. On a side note, Donald Trump also revitalized nuclear energy in America. Fossil fuels, nuclear, and hydroelectric are the future of energy in America.

Now oil production is still below 300 million barrels per month and Joe Biden shut down the Keystone XL pipeline. This is why oil prices are high and we are getting sucked back into conflicts in the Middle East. The Democrats are creating another energy crisis and are getting us stuck in never-ending wars in the Middle East.

OPEC kept oil price and supply relatively steady for decades.
The Keystone pipeline is an export pipeline.. There is NO benefit to the American consumer.

During the Obama administration production and rig counts surged to their highest levels in over 40 years. Obama didn't do that or take credit for it.. It happened because the ppb was high.

Oil production is low because there is a glut of oil on the market and there was NO demand worldwide in 2020.

You don't know anything about the Carter years or OPEC or why there was an oil embargo or why the Suez Canal was closed for so many years or why oil companies ha to scramble to build supertankers an infrastructure for docking.

You don't know anything about the oil business either or why the US domestic producers can't compete below $60 a barrel.

You don't know anything about the original oil cartel , the Texas Railroad Commission or why we import so much oil from Canada and Mexico.

You're not alone... Neither does Trump, the bragging moron.

Further, 10 million bpd is not 300 million bpd.

Do you really think that RP and Kaz have any concept of what drives oil prices and production or any interest in rationally discussing that? I mean, seriously.

I know they don't know jack shit so why do they sound off and make such fools of themselves.
Because they seek to make partisan talking points.

btw, I think cancelling Keystone was counterproductive, but Biden has to give something to the progressives who voted for him. We'd probably be better off just not using any Canadian tar sands anyway.

But as you noted the Saudi production cuts are something to watch. And probably US demand will rebound faster than the link I put up, but the link also predicted US production would surpass 2019 levels too. But carmakers will increase mileage without politicians, so that's a positive.

Democrats love when instead of keeping money in the USA, we send it to despotic dictatorships overseas
Trump never believed in supply and demand

That has nothing to do with what I said, fascist
Well you couldn't tell a market from your asshole, but here's a hit, fuckhead, becaus you're a trumpfk
.S. energy consumption, however, will take years to return to 2019 levels—eight years to be exact. The EIA notes, however, that “that projection is highly dependent on the pace of U.S. economic recovery.”

You didn't address that in any way because you're STUPID

Mexico and Canada are now third world Tyrants???? You are an incorrigible ignoramus.

We buy all the oil we can from them now. When we buy more oil, we have to go to places like the middle east.

OMG, you know nothing about this. Which of course as a fascist Democrat doesn't make you blink with advertising that

The Keystone XL doesn't produce oil it transports it and it will be transporting Chinese oil field product in Canada to China while America helps to support China..

The tar sand oil they want the Keystone Xl for is not used to make gasoline it is used to make asphalt. So the lack of the Keystone doesn't do anything for oil production to make gasoline.

Obama's first term saw oil production surge in the US.. Rig counts were higher than they had been in 44 years. You have it all backwards.

Keystone benefits Canada and the Chinese... while these nincompoops rail against China.

The entire discussion of US oil production is nonsensical. I have no idea what possibly caused it beyond RW hysteria over protected areas and keystone, which are just talking points for those with axes to grind ( a pun) for various ideologies.

U.S. Field Production of Crude Oil (Thousand Barrels per Day) (eia.gov)

Actual oil prices are much more complicated. Not only because of global production, and demand, but also attempts by OPEC and Russia to affect prices. And since roughly the beginning of the current century prices have fluctuated. And free market analysis may not be terribly useful since over half the world has subsidized consumer prices.

Somehow the myth of "energy independence" from the 1980's still resonates for them. They seem incapable of understanding there is just one "giant pool of barrels of oil." More likely they are simply unwilling to embrace the notion that Exxon or whoever doesn't give a crap who they sell to, and there's not a damn thing we can, or even should be able to do, about telling individuals whom they can and can't sell to. (And yeah I see the irony with Xians not baking cakes for gays) But the myth is part of the Keystone "thing." As you posted, Keystone is mostly about transporting expensive Canadian oil. That has no effect on US consumer costs. The benefit to us is that, ironically, it's probably more enviro friendly to use a pipeline that trucks and trains.

But if the US produces more oil it probably has a small effect on price. ASSUMING opec production stays steady. Opec is by far the largest producer. And Russia and Nigeria are not that far behind the US.

Isn't the Canadian sludge a deep discount at $29 a barrel?

hmm, I thought it was to stabilize price. But like I said, the actual discussion of US production seems .... largely pointless. It's certainly important to those who earn money from production but .... not so much for consumers, imo.

But imo its a HUGELY important issue as to what oil COST will be. Inflation too. Those may hold the success of Biden and the US for the near term. BUT production levels are only one part of price levels, and even global demand is not a totally controlling factor.

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama unveiled plans on Wednesday for a limited expansion of U.S. offshore oil and gas drilling in an effort to win Republican support for new proposals to fight climate change.

Opening up parts of the U.S. Atlantic coast, Alaska and possibly offshore Florida to exploration is Obama’s latest effort to woo legislators needed to pass a climate bill before mid-term elections in November. "
