More likely they are simply unwilling to embrace the notion that Exxon or whoever doesn't give a crap who they sell to, and there's not a damn thing we can, or even should be able to do, about telling individuals whom they can and can't sell to. (And yeah I see the irony with Xians not baking cakes for gays) But the myth is part of the Keystone "thing." As you posted, Keystone is mostly about transporting expensive Canadian oil. That has no effect on US consumer costs. The benefit to us is that, ironically, it's probably more enviro friendly to use a pipeline that trucks and trains.
