Neither do I. 2016 was a real eye opener. I started to wonder if these pollsters were only calling into solidly blue areas and/or deliberately manipulating the results to discourage conservative votes. I suspect the latter, BUT, it still got me curious enough to do a little digging. One interesting tidbit I did find was that nearly all of these polls are conducted on land lines. Well, according to the most current data I could find, only 40% of the USA still uses landlines. So one could make the argument that regardless of how they are implementing their criteria they are still ignoring 60% of the country.

Looking at the races:
GOP Senate seats in-play are NV, AZ, TX, and TN. TN TX & AZ look safe, NV looks like a tossup to lean GOP.

DEM Senate seats in-play are ND, FL, MT, WV, MO, IN, NJ, WI. WI & NJ look safe, ND, FL, MT, WV, MO & IN look like tossups to lean GOP

So it looks like the GOP can pickup a max of 6 seats to a more probable 3 or 4 seats. Say 55 GOP and 45 DEM as the new Senate

Agreed. I used to refer to the Democrat/Republican dichotomy as two wings of the same bird. However, since the 2008 presidential election, Democrats have veered hard left, I think even to the surprise of many establishment Democrats - IE the defeat of Joe Crowley by a complete nobody.

Republicans have remained pretty steadfast IMO, but just as spineless as always. I think, however, with the recent actions of guys like Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy that is finally changing.
