It's hard to imagine anyone who's paying attention still believes Obama is anything but a corporate tool; however, for the blindly partisan, Wall Street's Boy has just confirmed his 1% credentials by instigating Change in the NSA that will likely give future generations of Americans little Hope of privacy

"In response to political scandal and public outrage, official Washington repeatedly uses the same well-worn tactic.

"It is the one that has been hauled out over decades in response to many of America's most significant political scandals.

"Predictably, it is the same one that shaped President Obama's much-heralded Friday speech to announce his proposals for 'reforming' the National Security Agency in the wake of seven months of intense worldwide controversy.

"The crux of this tactic is that US political leaders pretend to validate and even channel public anger by acknowledging that there are 'serious questions that have been raised'.

"They vow changes to fix the system and ensure these problems never happen again.

"And they then set out, with their actions, to do exactly the opposite: to make the system prettier and more politically palatable with empty, cosmetic 'reforms' so as to placate public anger while leaving the system fundamentally unchanged, even more immune than before to serious challenge.

"This scam has been so frequently used that it is now easily recognizable.

"In the mid-1970s, the Senate uncovered surveillance abuses that had been ongoing for decades, generating widespread public fury.

"In response, the US Congress enacted a new law (Fisa) which featured two primary 'safeguards': a requirement of judicial review for any domestic surveillance, and newly created committees to ensure legal compliance by the intelligence community."

"But the new court was designed to ensure that all of the government's requests were approved: it met in secret, only the government's lawyers could attend, it was staffed with the most pro-government judges, and it was even housed in the executive branch.

"As planned, the court over the next 30 years virtually never said no to the government.

"Identically, the most devoted and slavish loyalists of the National Security State were repeatedly installed as the committee's heads, currently in the form of NSA cheerleaders Democrat Dianne Feinstein in the Senate and Republican Mike Rogers in the House.

"As the New Yorker's Ryan Lizza put it in a December 2013 article on the joke of Congressional oversight, the committees 'more often treat … senior intelligence officials like matinee idols'".

When Obama promised "Change" he never said it would be for the better. Besides his base is all government dependent, slave mentality anyway and just can't give a fuck as long as they get their daily cheese

Obama's base is the same 1% that backed Bush, Clinton, and every other president since the end of WWII (at least). Both corporate parties are enslaved to Wall Street.

It was nothing but a PR move.

Does anyone believe it? I guess there are probably a few, if so, then mission accomplished. However, I'm hoping that the vast majority of people have witnessed the lies he has spoken over the years and just chosen to disregard everything he says.

You would think a few of the people paying attention to politics on a daily basis would begin to notice how both corporate parties rely on the same lies

"The same thing happened after the New York Times, in 2005, revealed that the NSA under Bush had been eavesdropping on Americans for years without the warrants required by criminal law.

"The US political class loudly claimed that they would resolve the problems that led to that scandal.

"Instead, they did the opposite: in 2008, a bipartisan Congress, with the support of then-Senator Barack Obama, enacted a new Fisa law that legalized the bulk of the once-illegal Bush program, including allowing warrantless eavesdropping on hundreds of millions of foreign nationals and large numbers of Americans as well.

"This was also the same tactic used in the wake of the 2008 financial crises. Politicians dutifully read from the script that blamed unregulated Wall Street excesses and angrily vowed to rein them in.

"They then enacted legislation that left the bankers almost entirely unscathed, and which made the 'too-big-to-fail' problem that spawned the crises worse than ever."

Maybe some will notice how much harder it's becoming to find the "lesser evil?"

Podesta, Left-Wing Mastermind, to Lead NSA Review

President Barack Obama announced Friday that John Podesta, his new "counselor" and the political operative responsible for creating the institutional left in Washington, will be the appointed "to lead a comprehensive review of big data and privacy" in the aftermath of revelations about the National Security Agency's electronic spying programs.
.....
To be fair, there are few clear answers, even in the wake of stunning revelations about the NSA, as to where the line between security and privacy ought to be drawn. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who has led the opposition to the NSA's surveillance programs, quipped: “I think what I heard was if you like your privacy you can keep it.”

According to Obama, Podesta will work with a group of government officials and the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, as well as reaching out to "privacy experts, technologists and business leaders," to "look at how the challenges inherent in big data are being confronted by both the public and private sectors." Podesta will also examine how government can "continue to promote the free flow of information in ways that are consistent with both privacy and security." This will be done to address the ongoing NSA spying scandal that came to light in June 2013.

Podesta has a long history with Democrats. He co-chaired the transition team when Obama first came into office. He was also White House chief of staff under Clinton. Neera Tanden, who has worked for both Obama and Hillary Clinton, currently runs CAP.

CAP is an influential liberal policy writing and advocacy organization, complete with its own media outlet. Not only has CAP received more than $7.3 million from George Soros, it also has a membership program for corporations to be part of the discussion.

"CAP was part of coalition of liberal groups in March of 2012 who targeted the pro-free market American Legislative Exchange Council for having corporate donors and promoting policy initiatives not in line with liberal goals. This attack resulted in several of ALEC's corporate members pulling out. A similar attack was launched by some of the same groups against the State Policy Network."

IMHO, CAP and ALEC also serve the same 1% of voters that fund the election campaigns and retirements of politicians like Bush, Clinton, and Obama.

There is no solution to this problem by "choosing" between Democrat OR Republican for your congressional representatives.

FLUSH the DC Toilet in 2014 by selecting from third party candidates for House and Senate seats!
