Obamacare, my conclusion.

Sure they do.
They must either do an x-ray or an MRI first before physical therapy unless its a soft tissue injury and all you need is a massage.... if it involves a possible ligament injury or anything to do with back or nerve pain due to spinal issues they must see what's going on with you first...

You didn't say you had it x-rayed... in that case they were able to see what the problem was so the wrong therapy wouldn't do something bad to you... but most MRI's are for much more serious problems as in the spine or brain... I was correct to say they need to see imaging whether its an x-ray or MRI before using physical therapy... or they can really hurt people...
I'm betting you didn't even need an MRI....

And you are wrong again. The x-ray came back clean, the MRI found found a rotator cuff tear and a SLAP tear along with "severe osteoarthritis, none of which show up in an x-ray.

My problem was much more serious and I don't live in a crowded city... we have four imaging centers but my insurance plan with Dignity only allows me to go to one of theirs...
I could have driven 150 miles to a VA hospital but the wait wasn't much better... so I did what my doctor advised...
WE shouldn't have to wait so long for relief... Obama care did this to us....

Yes, as I said up above, how long one waits depends a great deal on where they live. I live in a metro area with just under 3 million people in it, though I live across the Mississippi river from most of them.

And you are correct, ObamaCare was terrible for rural hospitals, it drove them out of business at record levels.

They wouldn't have approved an MRI if the x-ray showed absolutely nothing... its must have showed inflammation...
Mine was a disc issue and severe sciatica... the therapist wouldn't touch me without an MRI....

The approved the MRI because PT did not help and the pain was still there. Keep in mind I have TriCare and I am not sure there is better insurance in the country.

X-ray sure. Most dr offices have those in house. No waiting. YOu specifically said "MRI".

To see a specialist its a 4 month wait... To get an MRI its 2 months.... so you can be in severe pain for 6 to 9 months before you even see a surgeon..... that is what broken healthcare looks like.
Also.... its time to make big pharma commercials and ads illegal...
I can usually see a specialist within a few weeks
Faster if it is an emergency

Where?

'Cause I had an ear infection that wouldn't clear up with antibiotics and got in to see an ENT later that same week earlier this year.
Wisconsin. I'm going to an 'out of network' provider and see if I can get in earlier.

This guy knows more than doctors ^^^

Go figure.
I had the same problem last year. It cleared up by itself for about 8 months but started up again recently. They say a person who is his own doctor has a fool for a patient and a fool for a doctor, but the more you know about health the healthier you can be. The value of being your own doctor is that you can persuade yourself to take better care of yourself better than a doctor can.

The "Affordable Care Act" is an utter failure regarding the health of Americans and is a gift to the medical/pharmaceutical industrial complex. The health of Americans continues to get worse while the bank accounts of big med and big pharma get fatter. Thanks to better access to healthcare insurance and the failing health of Americans the pressure on doctors and nurses is causing them to flee these professions. Thanks to Obama, and now Harris, the health crisis in America is heading for a catastrophe. :omg:

Yes and Trump has no plan either. All mouth.

Instead of squandering hundreds of billions of dollars, our useless politicians could have given us a cheap, socialized healthcare plan; alongside with the standard healthcare we have in America. (The rich don't want socialized healthcare and the average person can't afford the system we have...so we need 2 systems.) People that can't afford America's unaffordable healthcare could get their appendix out before it bursts.

If they need a heart transplant, then go work 3 jobs and save up for 6 years to pay for it. The socialized plan would be for basics to keep it viable. But the American healthcare system is so greedy they don't want to lose a penny and would never accept a 2nd option. Plus, our politicians are absolute nincompoops and could never run a socialized healthcare system anyway.

sam fuck off.webp

And luckily, it didn't run deep enough for you to be addicted to it.
Lots of people aren't that fortunate.

What it sounds like is that you want rationing of healthcare.
That's never gonna fly in this country.
I want people to be more responsible health wise.

I place the blame more on the people than the government or the healthcare system. Too many people just don't give a shit about their own health or safety. Kamala says healthcare is a right, which of course is a get out of jail card for poor health decisions. If people were more responsible, they wouldn't have to demand their "rights" regarding healthcare.

That's great. How are you going to enforce that?

Also, the way our healthcare system, ruled by private insurance is constructed right now, it is more reactive than preventative or diagnostic. That would have to be a sea change.

Not my responsibility.

The healthcare system like any business has to survive economically. Government mandates, like the ACA, aren't helping. And there are too many sick and injured people for the system to handle properly. Even with ACA coverage many put off care because of deductibles and copays, only seeing a doctor when their condition becomes critical and even more expensive to treat.

The system has an increasing patient load that is less able to afford treatment. A recipe for disaster for both patients and providers. The only solution is better personal health and safety practices.

Doesn't sound like that's an insurance issue, but a lack of providers issue.
I have great insurance, it's a patient backup in the ENT care system. If I need cardiac care I can get in today.

We'll have to differ there. Government and private insurers both need to play a role in reforming healthcare in this country, like it or not. The ACA was a good starting point. All the kneecapping by Republicans, and it still enjoys a greater popularity today than it did when it was first implemented.

Why do you think that is?

Giveaways are always popular. The ACA is a license to continue neglecting health for millions. I believe the insurance companies have the best of intentions regarding an impossible situation.

ACA isn't a giveaway. I had an exchange plan...and I had to pay for it. :)
I'm not sure what you mean by "neglecting health". There are quite a few people that have inherited pre-existing conditions through no fault of their own.

And I can assure you having watched my wife both work for and run round the twist with heath insurance companies for 35 years, they are only concerned with the bottom line profit.
Not patient health or outcomes. Those are left to the doctors, who are the ones that find themselves in the impossible situations between those "best of intentions" insurance companies and their patients.

Why do you think Bernie Sanders Medicare for All hits such a popular note with the masses including a good percentage of right wingers?
