Barack Obama did the hard work of rebuilding an economy that was at an historic low. It has been said that Obama inherited the worst economy since FDR. During his 8 years he rebuilt it even with obstruction from Republicans on a consistent basis. In February of 2009, Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the growth period from this policy began in July 2009 and continued through January 2020. People gave Trump credit for economic growth that began 8 years before he took office. Obama rebuilt the economy and created a record decade of growth even with Republican obstruction and austerity policies that actually slowed down economic growth. Despite the opposition, Obama set a record for job growth that began in 2010, 7 years before Trump took office and lasted until 2019, which was Trumps third year. Obama created 8.1 million jobs. Trump is given credit for 6.5 million. Trumps best year of job growth was lower than Obamas last 3 years. For those who want to say that Obama had 8 years and Trump had 4, Obama came into office when the nation was hemorrhaging jobs, losing thousands of jobs per month. Trump entered with an economy experiencing record growth. He had everything he needed to create more jobs than Obama but didn’t. The pandemic is no excuse considering nations with fewer resources than we had experienced less economic harm.

But there are those types who had a problem with Obama for a very obvious reason.

Under Obama, the US lead a failed intervention in Libya and also bombed many foreign nations. Obama was more eloquent and well spoken then Trump, but ultimately his foreign policy wasn't all that different.

I do give you that Obama's personality is more respectable than Trump.

The US did not lead any intevention into Libya. Read the UN resolution authorizing the use of force in Libya instead of repeating right wing disinfomation. Obama took out Bin Laden. Obama destroyed ISIS. Obama did not start wars. Obama inherited 2 wars from Bush. Foreign policy is not the only thing in a presidency. Obama was a far better president than Trump and the best president in this century thus far.

Second, the 'great recession' only became that because Obama's fiscal plan increased debt, increased regulatory burdens, and his high taxes hampered financial growth. His 'recovery' was slow, and the unemployment rate took until 2017 to return to pre-recession levels. Obama essentially repeated many of the same mistakes made in response to the great depression.
