Pretty disgusting. The election might be over.

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

oh wait? so when the NY Post writes something negative or unflattering about McCain or Palin they are just a biased lightie rag but when it's about Obama it's okay to use them as a source?

that's classic...

I guess Obama is taking a page out of Reagan's playbook with the Iran hostages eh?

Should other sources verify the claim made by the Post, it certainly wouldnt look very good, wouldn't you agree ?

You have to love it..... Rupert Murdoch's rag is suddenly "credible", but the NY Times isn't?

RAFLMAO!

I'm fairly sure someone could write an article saying Bush tried to advance talks to help McCain with the election.

But that would be "biased".

Well---what's taking them so long? I thought it had been pretty heavily insinuated already. Besides--that's what politicians do---anything to win.

Just wrote my congresscritter requesting that he look into possible Logan Act violations.

I encourage my fellow fair-minded Americans to do the same :clap2:

While you're doing that, ask him to look into violations of the constitution by the Bush administation...

oh right... THAT is counterproductive. I forgot...

I wasn't aware Bush was running for president, nor is he on a "change" platform.

What a hoot.

The same goes with Huffington Post for Republicans.

It's good when it helps them, evil when it doesn't.

Hypocrisy at it's best. :eusa_whistle:

More of that ugly desire to control and subject the masses coming through.

"Only those who agree may participate in election" eh? Don't they do that in Cuba?

I think Silence wants you to vote but that tape over her mouth always throws me off.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

"However, as an Iraqi, I prefer to have a security agreement that regulates the activities of foreign troops, rather than keeping the matter open." Zebari says.

Though Obama claims the US presence is "illegal," he suddenly remembered that Americans troops were in Iraq within the legal framework of a UN mandate. His advice was that, rather than reach an accord with the "weakened Bush administration," Iraq should seek an extension of the UN mandate.

While in Iraq, Obama also tried to persuade the US commanders, including Gen. David Petraeus, to suggest a "realistic withdrawal date." They declined.

Obama has made many contradictory statements with regard to Iraq. His latest position is that US combat troops should be out by 2010. Yet his effort to delay an agreement would make that withdrawal deadline impossible to meet. OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL - New York Post

Already been two threads made on this by the GOP spin machine already.
