even though he has been bleating about how open and transparent his administration is and will be.

Another day, another lie.

PROMISES, PROMISES: Records not so open with Obama
WASHINGTON (AP) - One year into its promise of greater government transparency, the Obama administration is more often citing exceptions to the nation's open records law to withhold federal records even as the number of requests for information decline, according to a review by The Associated Press of agency audits about the Freedom of Information Act.

Among the most frequently cited reasons for keeping records secret: one that Obama specifically told agencies to stop using so frequently. The Freedom of Information Act exception, known as the "deliberative process" exemption, lets the government withhold records that describe its decision-making behind the scenes.

Obama's directive, memorialized in written instructions from the Justice Department, appears to have been widely ignored.

Major agencies cited the exemption at least 70,779 times during the 2009 budget year, up from 47,395 times during President George W. Bush's final full budget year, according to annual reports filed by federal agencies. Obama was president for nine months in the 2009 period.

The government's track record under the Freedom of Information Act is widely considered a principal measurement of how transparently it makes decisions. When Obama promised last year to be more open he said doing so "encourages accountability through transparency," and said: "My administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in government."

In a new statement Tuesday, Obama noted the release of White House visitor logs and federal data online in recent months said his administration was recommitted "to be the most open and transparent ever."

"We are proud of these accomplishments, but our work is not done," Obama said. "We will continue to work toward an unmatched level of transparency, participation and accountability across the entire administration."

What a crock. He is just so full of shit.

Where is the American media? What happened to journalistic integrity?

The administration has stalled even over records about its own efforts to be more transparent. The AP is still waiting—after nearly three months—for records it requested about the White House's "Open Government Directive," rules it issued in December directing every agency to take immediate, specific steps to open their operations up to the public.

I first heard about this a little while ago on FOX. Will we see it on ABC? MSNBC? CNN?

It's on Huffer too in case you libs doubt the story.

Bush was "hardly open". More vacations than any presidend in history. Fewer press conferences than any president in history. More "no-bid" contracts than any president in history. Wouldn't even tell us who signed Jeff Gannon into the White House dozens of times for "overnight" stays.

For that matter, let us know when the Prez or his current Veep go on fishing trip with a Supreme Court Justice right before a major case they have a stake in is gonna be decided.

Great stuff. Exactly what anyone with half a brain could have guessed by now but great stuff anyway. I read about this earlier today at Hot Air. Ed Morrissey had some good points as always...

Hot Air Blog Archive Surprise! Obama administration defies more FOIA requests than Bush WH

Critics would do well to remember that government often has good reason to keep sensitive information out of the public domain. After all, we’re fighting a war in Afghanistan as well as battling global terrorist networks. Furthermore, the executive branch has a right to solicit advice on policy, and it can’t get good, honest advice if the people being asked believe that their consultations will get plastered all over the New York Times. While the government tends to default too often to secrecy no matter which party occupies the White House, those issues are valid still.

There is also a link there to Raw story who helped get the numbers right for this little calculation...

the Bush administration had a denial rate of 9.6%. The Obama administration has a denial rate of 15.9%.

Hey Obama voters, how's it feel to have "hope&change" stuck up your ass?

When you have Helen Thomas the most LIBERAL White House Journalist making a comment like this--"stating the Obama administration is more controlling over the media than the Nixon administration"--you know that this is the most blatantly untransparant administration in our history. Because Helen Thomas has been a LIBERAL White House journalist since dirt was invented---:lol::lol:--& she is trashing this administration's policy of e-mails in advance in the below video--in an effort to NOT be TRANSPARENT.

Sixty-three percent of Obama's press conferences in his first term were jointly held with other world leaders - tied for the largest percentage (63 percent) with George W. Bush.

Only George W. Bush (5), Ronald Reagan (7), and Richard Nixon (8) held fewer solo press conferences through their first year in office.

ALSO:

In fact, 19 of Obama's 27 press conferences took place during his first six months in office, while holding just 8 since July 20th. Across the last 14 presidents, only Richard Nixon (75.0 percent) held a larger percentage of his press conferences during the first six-month "honeymoon period" than has Obama (70.4 percent)

Yeah, You got the dunce Gibbs just trying to keep up with backing up Rahm and the Madman Obama's lies. It's hillarious to watch that dunce Gibbs use a few seconds, as he is trained to do, to come up with another quick, so called witted, line of bullshit to feed the masses. I hate that dipshit. ~BH

You all are forgetting basic physics.
Of course Obama is less transparent than Bush. His skintone is much darker.
