What a bunch of crap.
Who here has ever heard a woman say "I wish I had gotten an abortion"?
I know I've heard many who said they wished they hadn't.
And abortions do not prevent child abuse, unwanted children, or lead to the elevation of the human race. Nor are abortion factories the only answer to the rare cases of incest- or rape-caused pregnancy.
Now if you can speak the truth and stop spouting rhetoric...
oh wait, you have to have the rhetoric or there's no argument for abortion. Other than it kills kids YOU don't think should be born.
A la eugenics.
Interestingly enough, the legalization of abortion has actually led to MORE unwanted pregnancies, both those that are then terminated and those that go on to lead to live births.
Check some facts. Abortions are at their lowest rate since 1974. Statistics and that story here:
An Overview of Abortion in the United States
Let me say this slowly for you, Mensa Girl, so that you stand a chance of understanding:
I didn't say anything about "ohmigod, abortion numbers are going up every year!" I said that legalized abortion, instituted in 1973, has led to more unwanted pregnancies. That would be "more unwanted pregnancies than there were before 1973 and legalized abortion", you fluffbrain, not "more unwanted pregnancies this year than the year after abortion was legalized". I swear, you must have a Post-It note over your computer's power button with "ON" written in big letters so you can find it.
Let me share with you this little concept the rest of us like to call "logic" (You may have heard of it). If abortion is illegal - or what passed for illegal in this country before the advent of Roe v Wade, which was merely closely regulated - the cost of having sex is relatively high. Women who are contemplating having non-marital sex know that they might have to bear and raise a child, and men know they might end up having to support a child. Therefore, both men and women become more reluctant to engage in casual sex, particularly unprotected sex. (Knowing how your - for want of a better word - "mind" works, let me hasten to add that I did NOT say no one ever has casual, unprotected sex at all. Get someone to read you the definition of the word "reluctant" before you respond.)
However, if abortion on demand is legal, motivations and incentives are different. Contraceptives and abstinence become less attractive and less of a priority. After all, they have an easy safety net if they feel like being reckless. And as more women choose to engage in non-marital sex, society becomes more accepting of the practice, and actually comes to the point where other women feel pressured to have sex, including women who would never dream of having an abortion. From there, it's just simple mathematics to figure out that the more women who are engaging in non-marital sex, the more of them are going to turn up pregnant.
But you don't have to take my logic for it, especially since I'm fairly sure that logic and your "brain" are like matter and antimatter and would cause an implosion if they came into contact. Studies have shown that legalized abortion, by raising the rate of unprotected non-marital sex, increases the number of unplanned births. The rate went up from an average of 5% in 1965-1969 to over 16% twenty years later (1985-1989). And for blacks in particular, it went from 35% to 62%. -

And do I even really have to demonstrate for you that the number of unwanted pregnancies ending in abortions have gone up since abortion was legalized? Really? Do you really want to argue whether or not there were millions of abortions every year prior to 1969, or that there were millions of single women getting pregnant every year prior to that? Seriously? How much of a dumbass do you really want to make yourself appear to be in public?
